Auckland, New Zealand

Auckland at sunset, from Mount Victoria

The Sky Tower is a telecommunications and observation tower in Auckland, New Zealand. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, making it the second tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, surpassed by Autograph Tower in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since its completion in 1997 the Sky Tower has become a landmark in Auckland's skyline, due to its height and design.

A New Year's Day view out over Auckland Harbour under dramatic skies, our next stop on our cruise. We decided to take a bus tour around the city as we had limited time. While the girls went to the museum I went with my father-in-law to the top of the Auckland Sky Tower

While waiting to get the ferry from Devonport to Auckland, this is the view from the ferry station. I was lucky to get there on a clear night

Skyline of Auckland after sunset 9 February 2021. New Zealand

Soooooo nice to be out this morning after a week stuck at home in front of the computer, due to COVID L4 lockdown, in never ending work related video calls. Gorgeous calm morning. Beautiful. Be kind. #stheliers #glendowie #auckland #tamakidrive #seascape #seascapephotography #icm #icmphotography #water #runningmotivation #running #iphone11

Downtown Auckland Skyline. Two photos stitched together. I used long shutter speed with a ND filter to smooth out the water. Hence I also didn't need a deep depth of field. So, I set my aperture to F2.8 and focused on the city for increased sharpness and clarity.

Gorgeous light Sunday morning. Very humid following heavy rain overnight. Rangitoto, a volcanic island in the gulf of Auckland, was covered in clouds beaming from the sunrise. Nice.

On holiday and taking a morning walk down at the beach. Had the beach to myself. Photographers haven't found this one :)

Have a good day and thanks if you can comment.

I've been busy repainting the inside of my favourite cave at Maori Bay recently. Hope you like what I've done with the place! Single exposure, painted with a 'special' torch. (No photoshop)

The Auckland Ferry Terminal, also known as the Ferry Building or Downtown Ferry Terminal, is the hub of Auckland's ferry network in New Zealand. Situated on the waterfront of the Central Business District (CBD), it is located at the northern end of Queen Street, opposite the Britomart Transport Centre. The terminal comprises two main sections: a historic Edwardian Baroque-style building, opened in 1912, and more modern structures housing the wharves and passenger waiting areas. The historic building, designed by Alex Wiseman and constructed with sandstone and brick on a Coromandel granite base, has been restored and now houses shops and cafés on its lower level. This terminal connects downtown Auckland with suburbs such as North Shore, West Auckland, and South Auckland, as well as the islands of the Hauraki Gulf.

I'm back after some time away planning and traveling through New Zealand! This is a classic view of Auckland from Devonport before sunrise.

Will it be a nice city when they finish it?

Just a simple minimalist image from the amazing Auckland Art Gallery. On our way to one of their exhibitions, through the corner of my eye, I noticed how beautiful the light was reflected from the windows to the end wall. In itself a 'work of art' albeit very brief as the light quickly changed. Often beauty can be found just next to where you are.

Auckland from the west in the early evening. it had just rained hard so afterwards came the rainbow.

Man rushes across the road in Auckland, New Zealand

In "EXPLORE" October 2nd, 2022 !!!!!!!!!! Very happy!

I enjoy just walking around our beautiful city looking for interesting angels and point of views. So much to photograph when taking the time to observe and focus on seeing. Not always easy with many distractions around you. When walking along the waterfront I noticed this interesting roof structure on a popular restaurant/bar. I like the simple symmetry and organic looking structures. I bet the patrons were wondering what I was photographing at the time as several of them were attempting to 'pose for the photographer' (but no such luck). Funny.

New Zealand’s tallest building is the Sky Tower in Auckland on the North Island. At 328 m in height, it is an icon of Auckland’s skyline.

There are glorious views over the City of Sails from the top, which we enjoyed from the Level 50 Sky Cafe.

On offer for the brave is the Sky Walk on Level 60, a handrail-free walk around the 1.2 m wide rim (with attachment rope), or the Sky Jump, an ultimate leap of faith with nothing but an abseiling wire between yourself and the ground below, reaching 85 kmph on descent.

I stood at the base looking up, watching as several folk took the plunge and even with my two feet firmly on the ground, it made my stomach flip.

The tower was designed by Gordon Moller, of Craig Craig Moller Architects and built in 1994. It is constructed of steel, pre-cast concrete and reinforced concrete. The tower is designed to withstand wind in excess of 200 kph and designed to sway up to 1 m in excessively high wind.
