Macro Mondays - Initials

My mother-in-law gave this to me many years ago, and I can still smell the 40+ year old Opium perfume that used to be in it, lol. : )

Image measures 2 3/4" top to bottom.

“When I sound the fairy call, gather here in silent meeiing,

Chin to knee on the orchard wall, cooled with dew and cherries eating.

Merry, merry, take a cherry, mine are sounder, mine are rounder,

Mine are sweeter for the eater, when the dews fall, and you'll be fairies all.”

To spritz, one needs an "atomizer" like the one that you see here. It's a fit for this week's Macro Mondays "Zed" theme, which calls for photographing a subject that contains a "Z" (aka Zed) in its name.

I used an empty perfume bottle from my wife and spritzed away with the built-in atomizer after filling the bottle with water. That makes the image a fit for the Our Daily Challenge "Water Droplets" challenge, as well.

# Abstract -- GI/HAARP grad student experiment involving lab manipulated charged particles, essentially, for crude weaponization/moderately controlled communication infrastructure interference -- advantage over cracking modalities, now ubiquitous, tediously so, is the lack of any ability to viably or efficaciously defend. Additional tests included artificially introducing additional chemical elements to the oxygen/nitrogen rich atmospheric aspects involved in natural phenomena. Data included with this report. Early test, mixed data/results. We encourage further development. Internal materials. Strictly so. Continue to exclude The Fort. Thirty.

Route 66 is now just a few miles away from the house so I see plenty of reminders.

This is a single cactus spine shot @ 5x magnification and Focus stacked (20 shots). The drops are extremely small, sprayed on with a fine atomizer.

There's something so lovely and stylish about old perfume bottles. When you had to pour your chosen perfume into the ornate bottle, and dip in the glass 'wand' to bring out some perfume to then dab on your neck, or on your silk scarf! Then came atomizers - and finally today's bottles that are sealed and you can't decant the perfume into your favourite bottle! This old bottle even has a cut glass knob as the screw-top that refracts light perfectly ...

Shot with the Helios 44-2 lens.

A black acrylic sheet with water sprayed on with an atomizer. Lit with holiday lights and a flash light.

The image is about 6.35 cm (2.5 inches) on the long edge.

I had no color choice for the spray bottle which came with a classy flat black shirt press. Regardless of its color, the bottle does the job it's designed for.

Smile on Saturday! - A PRECIOUS GIFT

Received from a friend many years ago...

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

Nova Scotia windstorm

Perfume atomizer bottle cap.

The 2nd floor balcony doors did not need forced.

That was the first thing the burglar noticed as she emerged soundlessly from the darkness beyond the stone balustrade. The brass latch had been left carelessly unfastened to invite in the cool spring air, and the sheer curtains drifting outward into the moonlight moved like pale ghosts around her black leather silhouette.

She paused there for several long seconds upon the threshold.

Stillness mattered.

A careless thief entered a room immediately. A professional studied it first.

Moonlight poured silver across the marble floor, illuminating the grand bedroom in fragments — polished walnut furniture, velvet drapery, silver-backed brushes resting upon the vanity, crystal perfume bottles glimmering faintly beside the mirror. The room possessed the heavy softness of wealth, the kind accumulated quietly over generations. Even the silence felt expensive.

Nothing moved.

The burglar stepped inside.

Her leather catsuit absorbed the darkness as though tailored from the night itself. Only the edges of her gloves caught faint highlights as she closed the balcony doors behind her with exquisite care. The latch settled into place without a sound.

Then she looked toward the bed.

The sleeping girl lay exactly where the thief had hoped.

Long red hair spilled across the pillow like molten copper in the moonlight. One bare shoulder gleamed above the folds of the red satin gown, the fabric flowing around her body in luminous liquid folds that shimmered black-red wherever shadow touched them. The satin sheets beneath her were deep chocolate brown, glossy as poured ink beneath the moon.

The burglar watched her for a long while.

Twenty-three, perhaps.

Young enough still to sleep deeply after an evening of dancing and champagne.

The girl’s breathing remained slow and peaceful, one hand curled delicately near her cheek. Upon each index finger rested a large diamond cocktail ring that flashed softly whenever moonlight struck the facets. Her throat gleamed faintly too.

Necklace.

There.

The burglar’s gaze settled upon the delicate drop diamonds resting against the pale skin of the sleeper’s chest. An elaborate piece. Expensive. Old cut stones. Real craftsmanship.

Not merely wealth.

Taste.

The thief moved deeper into the room.

Every step was deliberate. Her gloved hands never brushed against unnecessary surfaces. She passed through shafts of moonlight like a phantom drifting underwater. At the vanity she stopped once more, surveying the arrangement left there after the evening’s festivities.

A velvet jewel case sat half-open beside silver hairpins and a crystal atomizer.

The burglar smiled faintly beneath her mask.

Careless.

Very careless.

She opened the lid fully.

Inside, velvet impressions marked where earrings, bracelets, and necklaces had rested earlier that night. The remaining pieces glittered softly against the dark lining like captured frost.

Diamond earrings first.

The thief selected them delicately between gloved fingers, examining them beneath the moonlight before slipping them into the velvet pouch concealed at her waist.

Then the bracelet.

A heavier piece, elaborate and icy bright.

Gone next.

One by one the compartments emptied.

The burglar worked with patient reverence, almost ritualistically, as though preserving the dignity of the jewels required slowness. She never rushed. Never grabbed.

Only the necklace remained upon the sleeping girl herself.

The thief turned from the vanity.

For the first time she approached the bed directly.

Moonlight washed over the sleeper’s face. Caedance shifted faintly against the satin sheets, lips parting slightly in unconscious breath. The movement caused the diamond necklace to flicker brilliantly at her throat.

The burglar stood above her.

Studying.

Evaluating.

Not cruelly.

Professionally.

A faint breeze stirred the curtains again, carrying the scent of spring rain through the balcony doors. Somewhere far below on the estate grounds an automobile passed distantly along wet pavement.

The thief bent slowly over the sleeping woman.

Black gloves hovered near pale skin.

Very gently, she slid two fingers beneath the cool diamonds resting against Caedance’s throat. The sleeper sighed softly but did not wake.

The burglar waited motionless.

Nothing.

Carefully now.

The clasp rested beneath the girl’s hairline, hidden among loose red strands. The thief lifted the silk-soft hair aside with infinite patience, exposing the fastening beneath.

A tiny click.

The necklace loosened.

For one suspended moment the diamonds rested entirely within the burglar’s gloved hands, gathered like captured moonlight.

Still Caedance slept.

The thief drew the necklace away inch by inch so the dangling strands would not brush against skin or satin. The gems shimmered violently in the moonlight as they rose from the sleeping girl’s chest.

Then they were gone.

The pale throat beneath looked strangely bare afterward.

The burglar studied the absence a moment longer than necessary.

Then her eyes lowered toward the rings.

Those required greater care.

She took the sleeper’s relaxed hand gently into her own gloved palm. The satin beneath rustled almost imperceptibly as the massive diamond cocktail ring slid slowly from the girl’s finger.

Caedance stirred faintly.

The burglar froze.

The girl’s brows shifted slightly in sleep before settling once more.

Only then did the thief remove the second ring.

Now the bed contained only a satin clad figure, and moonlight.

The burglar returned to the vanity.

Methodically she placed the final necklace into the empty jewel case atop the other stolen pieces for a moment, admiring the complete collection together beneath the silver glow from the balcony. Diamonds upon black velvet.

Perfect.

Then she transferred them into her concealed pouch.

The jewel case now sat utterly empty.

Which was important.

The gesture meant nothing otherwise.

From within her suit the burglar produced a single playing card.

The Queen of Diamonds.

She laid it carefully inside the vacant velvet compartment.

Red ink against black velvet.

Signature complete.

For several seconds she remained there beside the vanity, staring toward the sleeping figure across the room.

The sleeping girl had not moved.

The red satin gown still flowed magnificently across the bed in molten folds, though now her bare throat and empty fingers betrayed the quiet violation that had unfolded mere feet from her dreams.

The burglar turned away at last.

She crossed back through the moonlight toward the balcony doors with the same impossible silence with which she had entered. The curtains stirred around her black silhouette once more as she stepped outside onto the stone balcony.

Then she vanished into the darkness beyond the estate.

Leaving only drifting curtains

An emptied jewel case…

And the Queen of Diamonds, waiting in the moonlight.

A card left where words were not needed.

Artemisia Geyser is part of the Cascade Group which includes the Atomizer Geyser. It erupts for a duration of 15 to 25 minutes once or twice per day. The fountain reaches a height of 30 feet (9.1 m). Artemisia's pool overflows quietly for many hours before an eruption, but gives no visible warning of an impending eruption until the sudden increase in overflow that marks the eruption's onset. Eruptions are accompanied by a strong underground thumping caused by steam bubbles collapsing in the geyser's channels.

Artemisia also experiences minor eruptions lasting about 5 minutes. These minor eruptions are followed by major eruptions within six hours. Minor eruptions are rare. Years may pass between episodes of minor eruptions. In 2009, intervals between eruptions ranged from 9 to 36 hours, averaging 18 hours, 43 minutes. (sourced from Wikipedia)

It is a few hundred metres from the Morning Glory Pool. The yellow-white frothy deposits/bacterial growth is a beautiful feature of this geyser.

I can't remember the last time I did a fun bokeh/circles of confusion shot.

Luckily, while reading in the master bedroom yesterday afternoon I happened to notice my atomizer spraying by itself, so I took a picture of it. ;-)

Once again, I prove that I am not the brightest spark.

I had to be told several times to get away from the edge by friends and loved ones.

Covered in ocean spray with a manic grin, I've never felt so alive.

Or stupid.

Hopefully the day will never come when I don't get to tell you the tale or show you the images.

Tell then....... here's the image.

Thanks for looking

Todays theme for Macro Monday 17th August IS PUSH or PULL.

I am pushing the atomizer on this bottle of Peony and Rhubarb eau de toilette. I must admit my room is smelling absolutely gorgeous after i have tried a good selection of perfumes and sprays pushing each to try to get the desired effect .

thank you for your comments and views . Happy Macro Monday

This was a quite spontaneous shot. Reinhard Wagner came to me and told me that he has got a wonderful Idea for a photo. Right here - right now. He grabbed his water atomizer and one thing led to another.

The beauty in the rain is model Catharina again - thank you :-)

Longish exposure of water drops on a laser disc from the 1980s called "The 3 Worlds of Gulliver" See if you can untwist the plot from this image :o . Water drops were sprayed on the surface with an atomizer bottle and then I shone a flashlight at an angle to give me the rainbow and pressed the shutter. The lens was a manual macro Oshiro lens, and I believe the aperture was f/22

#macromondays #glass

The latest #macromondays challenge #glass prompts me to share this picture with you.

What you see is a small 2 ml glass atomizer which is filled up with a great scent called Vanilla Diorama made by DIOR. Haven`t tried this unisex scent ? You really have to....

Humans have been using glass for thousands of years. Ancient civilizations in Egypt and Mesopotamia were among the first to produce and use glass artifacts. Over time, various methods for glass production, coloring, and shaping have been developed and refined, leading to the vast array of glass products and art forms available today.

Glass is a non-crystalline, often transparent amorphous solid. It is primarily made from silica (SiO2), usually derived from sand, combined with smaller amounts of other materials such as soda (sodium carbonate) and lime (calcium oxide). The type and amount of these additional ingredients can vary depending on the desired properties of the glass. Some glasses might also include alumina, ferric oxide, barium oxide, magnesia, and various other compounds.

Thank you for visits, comments and favs!

April photos. Please view in original size.

Their breath, blackened with carbon and atomized diesel, rises as the heat rippling off the parched land, bending in the stiff breeze; a scorching wind that provides little relief for the radiator cores that struggle to keep prime movers cool enough to prevent them from shutting down. Unlike the creatures that find shelter from the 110-degree heat in their holes hidden in the shade of the saltbush, there is no respite from the harshness for the caravan of faded and mismatched Centerflows and Trinities sprinkled with the here-and-there PS-2 for flavor, their lading compressing the springs on roller-bearing Barbers and stretching out the drawbar as 710 and FDL team up to drag them off the salt flats of the Animas Valley and up the grade towards the shallow saddle in the north end of the Pyramid Mountains, only then stopping for a brief pause at the oasis of Lordsburg.

Forty miles behind them, up past Steins Peak in the jagged Peloncillo Mountains, a summertime desert monsoon lays down a barrage on the vast and dry San Simon Valley over Arizona way, filling Ryan Draw and Timber Draw and Gold Gulch with raging torrents of muddy water as they wash their way down into the dry San Simon River, tumbling over stones and carrying the flotsam of the desert towards a meeting with the Gila River near Safford.

But the water that fell this day over the Madrean Sky Islands of Arizona will never find its way to the Colorado River and the Gulf of California.

Once navigable from New Mexico to Yuma, damming and diversion projects heralded by modern man have rendered the channel of the Gila River dry for a good portion of its length, and today’s rains that hammered the Pinalena Mountains and roared down their slopes will most likely suffer from evaporation and die somewhere in the Pueblo Valley.

But here, on the long climb out of a pluvial lake that dried up 11,000 years ago, there will be no monsoon downpour to slicken the railheads or cool the air---

Only a test of machines and those that are called to operate them.

The desert is content with the status quo.
