J'ai embrassé l'aube d'été.
Rien ne bougeait encore au front des palais. L'eau était morte. Les camps d'ombres ne quittaient pas la route du bois. J'ai marché, réveillant les haleines vives et tièdes, et les pierreries regardèrent, et les ailes se levèrent sans bruit.
La première entreprise fut, dans le sentier déjà empli de frais et blêmes éclats, une fleur qui me dit son nom.

Nada se movía aún en los palacios. El agua estaba muerta. Los campos de umbría no renunciaban al sendero del bosque. Caminé despertando los hálitos vivos y tibios, y las pedrerías se miraron, y las alas se elevaron sin ruido.
Lo primero que emprendí fue, en el camino ya lleno de frescos y lívidos destellos, una flor que me dijo su nombre.

Arthur Laing Bridge is one of the bridges between Richmond and Vancouver. I go on it often.
Now I have more reason to go on the bridge because I love taking pictures on it! :o)
This is another shot I did last week on my way home after I bought a photo book by Edward Weston.

Historic Arthur Circus is one of the most beautiful streets in Battery Point and indeed the whole of Hobart. The cottages surrounding the village green of Arthur Circus were constructed for the officers of the garrison and are by today’s standards very small dwellings.
Arthur Circus allotments were sold in 1847 by Lieutenant Governor Arthur, who had acquired the land in 1829 in dubious circumstances.
For over 100 years, the crowded working-class cottages in Arthur Circus housed large families whose livelihood depended on the waterfront. Today these cottages sell for over $1,000,000. Their attraction and value lies in their proximity to the city, waterfront and place of work, just as it did in the 1840s. Ironically, it is only in recent years that the words of the 1847 auctioneer, Mr John Charles Stracey, have finally come to pass.

About
2 of the 3 trainbridges that go over the canal just before you arrive at Mechelen station when coming from the south. This bridges are called 'Vierendeelbruggen' after Athur Vierendeel.
Since the beginning of this year I'm carrying all my photography equipment to and from work each day, I really felt (well I'm sure) that I missed out on quite a lot fantastic skies last year.
I always wanted to shoot these bridges with a good sunset and last tuesday I finally got lucky, as I arrived in Mechelen with the train and walked to my car I knew I just had to snap this, so I climbed up there via the secret passway (hehe) and crossed the bridge on foot, crossed over a few tracks to get to this place, perfect timing it seemed, I spent a little too much time I guess, just after I had taken my last shot, I saw some official dude wearing a fluo coat walking towards me (still about 200meters from me), time to pack my stuff and go, jump in the car and drive home ;)
It's actually quite exciting shooting like that, well I didn't actually passed a forbidden sign or something, but it is dangerous near the tracks and most likely they don't like you on the property or it's indeed illegal, gee and I'm posting the evidence ;)
The shot
Standard 3 exposures HDR [-2,0,+2EV] in RAW/ISO100 at f/11 using the Sigma 10-20mm lens, on a tripod.

Tonemapped using the detail enhancer.
Photoshop
° Shadow and highlights.
° Desaturation of the foreground using a gradient mask in the adjustment layer.
° More blue saturation and less lightness to deepen the blues.
° Extra red and orange saturation in the sky ( again a gradient in the mask )
° Noise reduction in the sky, this time I produced a mask from the -2EV shot which
was almost black in the right places, a little Levels to pump that up, and a
few manual touch ups with a brush and there is the perfect mask in no time.

Standard 3 exposures HDR [-2,0,+2EV] in RAW/ISO100 at f/11 using the Sigma 10mm fisheye lens, on a tripod.
Photoshop
° Free transform with warp to get the left beam more straight which looks a lot better.
° Shadows & Highlights
° Extra blue saturation + less lightness.
° Extra brightness.
° Curves on red channel.
° Desaturation of the reds
° High pass sharpening ( See here for description )
with a mask to not sharpen the noisy sky.
° Noise reduction with mask to block out everything but the sky.
