Milkweed floss became a key element in the fill for Navy lifejackets in WWII, with a processing plant located in Petoskey, Michigan. Google milkweed floss and WWII and you can get the whole story. So, our proud state made more than tanks and planes in the factories of Detroit, Flint, and Lansing, with the moniker, the arsenal of democracy. It also makes for such interesting nature abstracts, which I thought so with this one in a field down the street. I've learned you've got to catch these explosions before the Fall rains.
Hoping everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
This is a shot of the National Cemetery located on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, Il. The headstone in the lower right is where my Mom and Dad are buried. Also buried there is a part of my oldest brother. But that's a whole other story for a different day. :)
