At first glance from a distance I thought this was a real person....he was sitting at the edge of the water at a boat mariner, I assume he's a pirate. I loved his long hair, it looked real!
September 3pm hour. A mesmerizing treasure trove of golden sunshine sparkles appeared in the water as I was walking around Ventura Harbor. Then in the fresh ocean breeze, along came a stand-up paddleboarder, unencumbered and uncluttered. After swirling through the sparkles like a lightweight nomad, he turns and looks back. I wonder if he saw the same thing I did. Anyway, it looks like he was freely enjoying the afternoon and I hope he goes home happy.
To be here was such a treat. I wanted a picture with boats for my 'Hours' picture because I was born in September in the 3pm hour on what is now 'International Talk Like A Pirate Day', so it worked out well. Arrr, Matey!
September is so lovely and it will transition into Fall before we know it. As Summer fades, it leaves its door open just a little...
Thank you again for your patience, my Flickr friends. I'm still off and on for awhile longer.

Another photo I took last Sunday as we enjoyed a sunny break from the wet and windy weather these past few weeks. The low tide revealed some boulders in the sand which served as a bit of foreground interest for my composition. I'm currently a big fan of taking photos directly against the sun as you can tell ;-)
The Smugglers' Cove is reached by an old tunnel through the cliffs which might or might not have been used by smugglers in the past! arrr!
Orcen vocabulary was not particularly large or sophisticated. They did not have a word for patience, for example. Their closest equivalent was the word “B’arrr’Kek” which meant, literally, ‘to delay violence due to inconvenient circumstances.”

Strange new feeling: I just earned my first money for a photo (not this one, by the way) although none of my photos have ever been on sale... Funny things happen in Flickr... :-)
Arrr!
When this Common Tern landed on the ground in front of me, I found this image quite amusing as it reminded me of some old movies. Those of us of a certain age may remember the actor Robert Newton's performances as Long John Silver, which gave rise to most pirates being portrayed with a West Country accent and the classic phrase "Arrr, Jim Lad!"
Taken in the Aire Valley, West Yorkshire.
Adults are unmistakable large warblers.
Dark grey above with strong white wing-bars, contrasting with pale, strongly barred breast. Pale tail corners prominent in flight.
Juveniles are pale, with only hint of barring on the flanks and rump.
Often sings its loud and melodic song from an exposed perch.
Call is a rattling "arrr-at-at-at-at."
Breeds in open habitats with tall bushes and scattered trees. Non-breeding habitat in Africa is similar: open woodlands and savannas.
“Gr’arrr,” the pair cooed.

If you've been following my page for a while, you'll know that I like to tell the story behind the image, if there is one..
Anyway, after editing this shot I was wondering what I could say about it and my brain said 'maybe say you saw a pirate ship hiding in the fog' (don't ask me why... it does some weird stuff at times and I try not to upset it by asking questions)... so I added a pirate ship.
On a sensible note, I would really like to produce composite images in Photoshop in the future and the only way that will happen is to practice.
Hope you like this image, if you don't, just put your thumb over the ship
Also, I found an online Pirate translator... don't you just love the internet...
