The Chicago Bike Map app allows you to reference a map of Chicago streets and bikeways without a data connection. The entire map is stored on your iOS device.

It happened in the early hours of Tuesday: in less than three years the App Store reached the half-million mark.
For some interesting stats, like on the image, a giant infographic was produced by three app-related companies. Mobile app blog 148apps, the search company Chomp together with game developer Chilingo collected a number of curiosities, including a timeline and a various facts.
To understand this data better and make a brief comparison, there have been 10 billion iOS app downloads through the App Store as of January. Although having been on the market 8 months less, the applications Google's Android currently count almost 300,000 apps and 3 billion downloads.

With a zillion different Apps to choose from, entertainment and convenience has never been easier. Apps have evolved the way we use our phones... they are now are our connection to everything from, social media, communication, banking, entertainment, and much more.
I've noticed this from day 1 in 2007, but nobody else has seemingly picked this up.
Weirdness or feature* It's actually only for suggestions and not the search results themselves, but it's puzzling to newbies.
A searchstring will not return some expected apps until you've expanded your query with a extra word. Apps like "Doodle vs Brute" and "Red vs blue" will not be suggested when you just enter 'doodle' or 'red' as search queries.
This makes some apps impossible to find in the Appstore.
I've confirmed this on an iPhone 2G running IOS 3.1.3 and an iPhone 3GS running IOS 4.3.3
Something else I've noticed is that the bundlename of the App can be different than the name of the App itself. This might influence the search query results (?)
If you look at these results they also look weird. Most popular apps first, but not by alphabet (which I would expect)
