This afternoon while I was walking along Second Avenue, in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, I took notice of this window on the opposite side of the avenue and felt this overwhelming need to photograph it. Impromptu inspiration many times materializes, like magic, out of thin air. And whenever it does, I feel a short-term emotional connection with the subject. It's such a dynamic feeling, and one that I have not experienced since before I underwent chemotherapy treatments last Summer.
My treatments concluded in early October, and yesterday with the window was a clear indicator of how my overall healing is progressing in the right direction. if anything, this experience has certainly taught me to become more focused on stuff, and to slow down and not to get manic over anything. Essentially, take it easy, Newell. You're going to be fine

New addition. Love it. People in the suburbs hang these metal flowers upon their backyard fences. Me, I hang mine on my apartment walls, and, as of today, now own ten of them. And that metal piece surrounding the flower, I found one afternoon walking home from work. It's really cool looking.
I've actually found quite a few nice pieces walking home from work, one of which was an elongated wooden coffee table made of walnut wood, no blemishes, perfect condition, which I proceeded to carry across 4 avenues, then up the 4 flights to my apartment. Some things you just shouldn't ignore

This photo came about after I had enjoyed a wonderful lunch at "Bread N Wine", this awesome hole-in-the-wall restaurant situated along Lexington Avenue at 92nd St, in New York City. They've amazing food, offer 1/2 sandwiches, have great salads, and delicious soups. Their staff is also wonderful and very laid back, and magically appear when needed. Live music too some evenings. N and I had specifically picked this venue for our lunch, and walked the 30-blocks there from her apartment. Following lunch, I walked across town to Central Park and wandered around its Reservoir, during which time I took this photo, which perfectly matched the essence of my afternoon.

Per Wikipedia:
In 1994 the reservoir was renamed in honor of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to commemorate her many contributions to the city (which included helping to save Grand Central Terminal from demolition and helping to restore it as an architectural landmark, protesting against proposed structures that would have marred Central Park's beauty, and serving as a board member of the Municipal Art Society). Furthermore, she enjoyed jogging in the area, and the windows of her apartment at 1040 Fifth Avenue overlooked the reservoir.

Concrete pumping is a specialized technique used in the construction industry to move freshly mixed concrete from a ready-mix* truck to the placement area. This process utilizes hydraulic power to transport concrete through a system of pipes and hoses, significantly simplifying the logistics of concrete placement compared to traditional methods like wheelbarrows or crane-lifted buckets.
(*) Ready-mix concrete is concrete that is manufactured in a batch plant and delivered to the job site ready to use. It is ideal for large patios, driveway renovation, pool decks, home foundation slabs, parking lots, and new sidewalk construction.

When I went past this historical haunted house on Catherine Street in Alviso today, I saw a for sale sign in front of it. So later I looked up the real estate website and checked out its listing. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw its value went from $634K in 2011 to almost $1.3 million today. I wonder if the real estate agent would list ghosts as part of its amenities. You can check out its listing here:

I caught a glimpse of a shady character inside the jail house in Pinoeertown while I was trying to take a photo of this old west building. The entire town used to be a movie set for western movies in the past. It 's quite interesting to look around.
We had a little break from the storm this afternoon. So I went out and did some walk during lunch hour. The low hanging clouds above the East Bay hills had presented good photo opportunities.

Damp night in the neighbourhood, the first day of December 2018. The year is coming to its end damn fast...
Taken with my new Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone. Wide-angle lens, default camera app, on full auto mode - this is almost straight out of the camera, no editing except cropping it to cinematic 2.39:1 aspect and some levels tweaking. Not bad for a mid-range phone, I'm sure my old DSLR wouldn't be able to match this image quality, regardless of the lens.
Photo and walk taken in my Sullivan's Gulch neighborhood between 9:09 and 10:10 as recorded in the Map My Walk app on my phone. ODC: 10:00am

Here's an interesting tidbit of information not many people know about:
The Hell Gate Bridge in New York City, completed in 1917, is known for its steel arch design and was the longest steel arch bridge in the world at the time. The Sydney Harbour Bridge, in Sydney Australia, inspired by the Hell Gate Bridge, was completed in 1932 and is notable for being the widest long-span bridge globally, showcasing a similar arch design

Part 3 in an ongoing series of stuff that's in my bag when I travel. I always travel with carry on, but it's a bit of a cheat as I have a huge Briggs and Riley case that I can stuff enough in for a week or more away and it goes in the overhead. Anyhooooo...this is but a small selection on day 3 in Hongkers (always Hongkers). Up early. Phone calls and Skype home done, all bright eyed and brushy tailed after a second surprisingly good night of sleep. Ready for meetings but still got another hour before I leave so what else to do but shoot this ... enjoy!

The Sunnyside Train Yard, Queens, NYC is comprised of 180 acres, which is six times the footprint of Hudson Yards, twice the size of Battery Park City, and 30 acres larger than Roosevelt Island. As with the other yards (Atlantic & Hudson), Sunnyside is also slated to have a platform constructed above it, so as to further erect buildings and roads atop that. For several years now major realtors have been building properties around the perimeter of the Sunnyside Yard. They're all like vultures, waiting on the kill.

The New York State Appellate Division of the Supreme Court
is the intermediate appellate court in New York State and is located at 27 Madison Avenue within the Flatiron district of New York City.
The gorgeous First Department courthouse was designed by architect James Brown Lord, commissioned by the Justices in 1896. The building was conceived as an expression of the ideals of the law. Lord was responsible for the construction as well as the art and decoration of the building. It opened its doors in 1900.
The iconic, Beaux-Arts structure features a marble facade adorned with classical statues and is a major New York City landmark.

I took a photo of this Victorian house earlier this morning and posted to my social media account in order to showcase the fall colors in our area. Comments from my friends started pouring in. As I applied HDR effect to this photo emphasizing the moody sky, one of my friends helped to add more spooky effect to it. This is the image as a result of our collaboration. I know, we are getting closer to Halloween.
