Driving along Derby Road in Nottingham

One of the first Mercedes new style WAS bodied ambulances I have seen with Yorkshire Ambulance Service it will be intresting to see whether they get some more of these.

Another example of the St John Ambulance uniform showing the new logo on one, and the flash of a Nurse on the other along with a Nurses response bag. Guess which coat is mine.

Accident on Highway 1 by the 248th overpass in Langley, BC, February 26, 2024, completely blocking westbound traffic heading towards Vancouver, and backed up to Abbotsford.

Seems that almost every time I travel this route there is a serious accident. Drivers are speeding with only one car length between them, and often are scrolling on their hand held phones as they drive!

The vehicles caught fire with smoke billowing high above the overpass, which we could see from a few kilometres away.

Fortunately, once the fire trucks negotiated through the heavy rush hour traffic--mostly by driving along the shoulders--crews managed to put the fire out in about 10-15 minutes.

East bound traffic crawled along with 2 ambulances blocking 2 of the 3 lanes, presumably because they were unable to cross the meridian or get through the blocked west bound lanes.

Some people were standing beside the ambulances wrapped in blankets and looking across the meridian at their totalled vehicles, probably wishing they had followed the 3 second rule of keeping distance from the vehicle ahead of them.

No one was in stretchers, no ambulances were speeding away, so it would appear that no one died or got burned in the pile up, thankfully.

To assure you I didn't take this photo while driving, I took it as a passenger as we finally were able to pass the scene.

A reminder to us all to keep our distance..... and stay off our phones while driving!

Those of you who have been following my car building will probably have noticed that I have a thing for fire engines and ambulances and the like. While I have had a 1/22 scale US Ambulance for years and have built a minifig scale British ambulance I didn't yet have a minifig scale US Ambulance. I figured it was about time I did.

sh #46 ambulance

One of the new style Mercedes WAS bodied ambulances owned by Yorkshire Ambulance Service the first one I have seen owned by them.

An ambulance at the parking lot.

Rear door of 2000 Renault Master/V.B.B. Papworth "Crusader 900" ambulance. This is operated by North Yorkshire and Teesside St John Ambulance. The back pannel of the body has no area designation. Most other NYT st John vehicles have a designation (usually "Headquarters").

YJ57GEY a Mercedes Ambulance with UV premia bodywork.

LK57BZX a Volswagen Lt46 WAS bodied Ambulance owned by Yorkshire Ambulance Service this is the only example I have seen owned by Yorkshire Ambulance its seems a fairley rare design compared to the Mercedes WAS bodied ambulances or the VW UV Modular ones.

New to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Patient Transport Fleet for 2010 are these Renault Master Ambulances not sure on the bodywork could be papworth?I like the new colour scheme and lightbars on these vehicles makes them look quite modern I think.

The air ambulance only took about 15 minutes to arrive. It was really weird seeing it landing right there in the street.

YX07FPP is a Volswagen LT46 UV Modular Ambulance a fair number of these ambulances were ordered in 2007 by Yorkshire Ambulance Service as an alternative to the Mercedes UV Modular design and these vehicles mainley found in the North & East regions of Yorkshire

An Offside view of YJ07FXD owned by Yorkshire Ambulance Service,I have a feeling this example is based in South Yorkshire somewhere as most of the 07 batch of these were to that area to replace some very old renaults.

YX06KJE a Mercedes UV Modular Ambulance this example is missing the medics star of life which is carried by most Yorkshire Ambulance Service Vehicles.

This WW II era ambulance is housed in the Tillamook Air Museaum south of Tillamook, Oregon. The Tillamook Air Museum is an aviation museum located at a former U.S. Navy Air Station and housed in a former blimp hangar, known as "Hangar B", which is the largest clear-span wooden structure in the world. Part of the enormous hanger had a white plastic roof hanging above some of the exhibits. There were also considerable distracting items in the vicinity of this truck. So, I experimented with Generative AI in Photoshop to give the vehicle a more interesting back drop.

Happy Truck Thursday!
