3 มิ.ย.2563 ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า วันนี้ (3 มิ.ย.63) เว็บไซต์ฐานเศรษฐกิจ รายงานว่า พุทธิพงษ์ ปุณณกันต์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงดิจิทัลเพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม กล่าวถึงแนวความคิดของเขาที่จะสร้าง “แพลตฟอร์มไทย” ขึ้นมาแข่งขันกับแพลตฟอร์มต่างประเทศที่คนไทยนิยมใช้อยู่ ในระหว่างการประชุมทางไกล RoLD Virtual Forum : Living with COVID-19 ตอน “How to Empower Digital Citizenship in COVID-19 Era” ที่จัดโดยสถาบันเพื่อการยุติธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย
โดย ฐานเศรษฐกิจ ระบุว่า รมว.ดิจิทัลฯ อธิบายถึงแนวคิดจะสร้างช่องทางขายคอนเทนต์ของไทยไปสู่ต่างประเทศ โดยยกตัวอย่างว่า เมื่อมี Netflix ได้ ก็สามารถทำให้มีช่องทางในลักษณะเปรียบเทียบเป็น Thaiflix ได้เช่นกัน เพราะที่ผ่านมาแพลตฟอร์มขายคอนเทนต์จากต่างประเทศ ซื้อคอนเทนต์ของเราไปในราคาที่จ่ายเงินครั้งเดียว แต่สามารถนำไปฉายในประเทศอื่นๆ
รมว.ดิจิทัลฯ ยกตัวอย่าง เช่นประเทศจีนจนทำกำไรได้มหาศาล แต่ผู้ผลิตคอนเทนต์ของไทยไม่ได้เงินเพิ่มเลย จึงเห็นว่า หากประเทศไทยสามารถรวบรวมคอนเทนต์ดีๆไว้ด้วยกันได้ ก็สามารถสร้างช่องทางนำออกไปขายในต่างประเทศได้เช่นเดียวกับคอนเทนต์ของเกาหลีใต้ โดยเอกชนในธุรกิจนี้ต้องรวมตัวกันเป็นทีมไทยแลนด์ และรัฐบาลเป็นผู้ให้การสนับสนุน
ข่าวดังกล่าวสร้างกระแสวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ในโซเชียลเน็ตเวิร์คจำนวนมาก เช่นในทวิเตอร์มีผู้ใช้ #Thaiflix เพื่อวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ความคิดดังกล่าว รวมทั้งยกตัวอย่างเนื้อหาหากจะมีช่องทางนี้จริงๆ หรือในเฟซบุ๊กแฟนเพจ 'คาราโอเกะชั้นใต้ดิน' ก็ทำภาพล้อเลียนประกอบเนื้อเพลง 'ประมาณนี้หรือเปล่า' ในท่อนเนื้อร้องเดียวกับชื่อเพลง
เช่นเดียวกับเพจดังอย่าง 'Drama-addict' ก็ออกมาคัดค้านความคิดนี้เช่นกัน โดยเห็นว่า 1. ตลาดนี้แข่งขันกันแหลกราญมาก ตอนนี้มีกี่เจ้า netflix disney+ amazonPrime AppleTV+ HBOgo iflix flixer ฯลฯ แต่ละแอปมีกลยุทธ์แบบ สร้าง exclusive content , ลดแลกแจกแถมกันเละเทะ จะเข้าสู่ตลาดนี้ ถ้าไม่มีอะไรที่แม่งเจ๋งจริงๆ ไปไม่รอดแน่ เอาง่ายๆ อย่างตนตอนนี้สมัคร netflix / HBO go ยังดูไม่คุ้มเลย คงไม่สมัครเจ้าอื่นเพิ่มไปกว่านี้แล้ว
