[...] Moyers:

In love, joy and sorrow pain.

Campbell:

Yes. Love is the focal point of life, and since all suffering is woebegone , so also the love. The stronger the love, the greater the pain.

Moyers: But love endures all.

Campbell: Love is pain itself, you might say - the pain of being truly alive. [...]

[…] Moyers:

In der Liebe liegen Freude und Schmerz.

Campbell:

Ja.

[...] The first animal afterlife messengers of the invisible force is no longer, as since prehistoric times, to teach the people and to lead. Bears, lions, elephants, mountain goats and gazelles are available in our zoo in a cage.

May have descended into the caves which shamans in their trances, even considered, they must be in us, every night in his sleep. Man is no longer the newcomer in a world of unexplored plains and forests, and our immediate neighbors are not wild animals but other people on a planet that spins relentlessly around the fire ball of a star to argue goods and habitat .

Either physically or mentally, we inhabit the world of those hunting peoples of paloäolithischen thousands whose lives and lifestyles we have to thank yet even the shape of our body and the structure of our mind.

Memories of their animal afterlife messengers must somehow still lie dormant in us, because they wake up a little and get upset when we venture into the wilderness.

With horror they are awake when it thunders.

And just as they wake up, realize with a sense of recovery as we enter one of those great painted caves. How the inner darkness, which descended into the caves in their shaman trances also viewed, they must be in us, every night, visited in his sleep.

.

.

Even at 12 Shizandra is full of life and energy. We take her out every morning and she chases the ball at least 20 times back and forth between Stu and me. She is panting like mad, but she just keeps going and definitely gives it her all! We are happy she is in such good health!

I shot this portrait of film director Mike Leigh in 2008 on a rainy day in Soho.

This was a short walk from his office and was a location he specifically had in mind for the shoot.

In 1964, a new phenomenon exploded onto the dingy British streets. It was the essence of all that was cool. It was Mod. Mods stuck two fingers up at the class-ridden society and its dull redundant culture. They were working-class free spirits who rode sexy streamlined Italian Vespas or Lambrettas. The sharpest Mod of all was known as a ‘FACE’.

The Small Faces encapsulated all that is Mod, a unique blend of taste and testosterone, neat, clothes obsessed and street-wise. But these cult sophisticates shared another passion, their dedication to Rhythm ‘n’ Blues. This quintessentially British ‘Mod’ Musical celebrates the unique sound of the iconic ‘60s Mod band, The Small Faces.

Featuring the music of the Small Faces, including an arsenal of brilliant hits like Whatcha Gonna Do About It, Lazy Sunday, Tin Soldier, Sha La La La Lee, Itchycoo Park and of course All Or Nothing.

This is the first bed Shizandra has ever had. Since she's older I knew her bones would appreciate something soft and warm, so I got her the best I could find. I like that the edges surround her, they make good pillows.

This was of course inspired by the Beatles "All You Need Is Love" but clearly I'm playing with the words and give the lowly, humble awl centre stage, something that does not happen very often.
