"Avocet" sessions

I reached out to Jennifer, whose music I have been a fan of since I was 18 last year, and she agreed to meet me at the studio so we could chat. Shortly later, I spend the day with her at my old studio and we just got to know each other and make some portraits off the cuff. I was overjoyed that I got to work with her making portraits, and I was extra overjoyed when she wanted to hire me to make some promotional images for her new album "Avocet" - her first in a decade.
There are some selects from that session from October. I'm just showing them now, as her new album is finally out.
To work with Jennifer is amazing to me - to be able to photograph someone who's music and songs have been so frequent in my life.

I'm excited to share the official album cover for singer/songwriter Liz Simmons forthcoming solo album "Poets".
Liz and I got together at the studio in the months prior to the Covid-19 pandemic (remember all the way back then??) and we spent the day making awesome work.
We are still a few months away from the album release, but when that day comes I'll be posting some things from the session and helping Liz promote the heck out of her new record.

Weather reached out to me years ago wanting to work together but it wasn't until March of this year that our schedules finally matched up and things worked out.
She was a joy to work with - she knew exactly what she wanted for images; each image matches up with one of the songs on her EP album. We spent the day playing about and visually working things out.
She's spent a long time making this album - give it a listen. As she states "... 2 years distilled down to 22 minutes"

Since the taken of the photo's on the 29th Jan 2011 of a good friend of mine that did a tandem sky dive i needed to find some were to print my photos but were i could use my own designs as full A4 pages and not the ones were places on the web only offered there own templates. After looking on the web for places that might offer this kind of service i decided to make my own photo album that way i could use my own custom designs which i had made.
here is now over 300 photos made in to a 100 page photo album designed using Adobe Photoshop CS5 & lots of coffee lol

This year I started to reach out to people whom I've admired for a long time and ask if I could take their portrait.
Jennifer Kimball is a singer/songwriter who was a member of the band "The Story" in the early 1990's. She was in "The Story" with another singer I just recently photographed, Jonatha Brooke.
I'm not sure how it worked out that I was able to photograph both of them in the same week. It was amazing.
Jennifer is working with another musician I've worked with in the past. When I learned of this connection, I reached out to that mutual friend and asked if he thought Jennifer might be receptive if I reached out to her.
So I did.
She said yes.
She spent the day with me at the studio. We took things organically. I got to just play around, which is always refreshing.
I started the session very nervous, and ended the session with a new friend.
I was able to meet and work with Jennifer through the power of photography. It's amazing.

This was art I made for my first EP album. Used this great picture I found of a path... to conquest. Brought out the flowers with a bit of saturation increase and added an inner shadow for a old school look. Created the postal stamp edge myself with a combination of patience and tenacity.
A lovely day spent down at Pinky Flats park in Adelaide. The bridal party were a real joy to work with and I was impressed with their dedication to walk for kms around Adelaide to get the shots.

Wedding album page design for a wedding held in Adelaide. The wedding occured on ANZAC day. The weather was wet and wild but held out for us whiel we were outside.

It's too bad this wasn't released as the visual concept was much stronger, IMO.
