I've been to the Schwäbische Alb for the first time. It is a region in the south of Germany, to the east of the much better known Schwarzwald/ Black Forest.
This photo symbolises the region for me: this is the Danube Valley with cliffs or rock faces towering over the river and a castle on top of the cliffs, in this case Schloss Werenwag in Beuron.
I'll be posting photos of the Danube Valley in the weeks to come and I'll tell you more about the views and the rich history. [Explored on 25/09/2022, #404]
The view from a rock called "the Mühlefels" over the Danube Valley in the Schwäbische Alb. The views from the tops of the rocks lining the valley is marvellous. I stood on top of quite a lot of them, so there are similar views of the meandering Danube that will follow

Der Blick vom Rutschenfelsen zum Runden Berg (vorne links mit Felsen links), dem Hohen Urach mit Burgruine. Dahinter das Ermstal. Die Grasfläche mittig unten ist Teil des Maisentales. Der rechte Arm dieses Tales geht zum Uracher Wasserfall, der linke zum Rutschenfelsen und den Gütersteiner Wasserfällen. Die Felswand unter uns bricht senkrecht 80 Meter kurz vor uns ab. Viel spektakulärer gehts auf der nördlichen Alb nicht...
