2018 should be considered the year "Hazed Out India". Wherever we went it was covered in Haze.
This shot was covered in Haze and this is the result after processing the RAW file to remove Haze. I could not remove the haze completely , but it does give it a mystic feel.

Once upon a time, there was an emperor of India, Shahjahan, who dearly loved his wife, Mumtaz. Legend goes that she had a dream one night of a beautiful palace, and when she awoke she sketched it out and asked Shahjahan to build it for her. He began to make the necessary arrangements to do so, but before he could get it done, Mumtaz passed away during the birth of their last child. Shahjahan was overcome with grief, and as a tribute to his late wife, he built the palace of her dreams to house her after death. He wanted to make it as beautiful as she was, so he began to construct it out of translucent white marble and other gems from around the world. It was completed in about 30 years, and Mumtaz Mahal's tomb was placed in the center of the the main building. A monument of his love for her.
Years later, Shahjahan was deposed by his son, and imprisoned just across town in the Agra Fort, where he could still see the tomb of his beloved wife, but never visit it. Legend has it that his son imprisoned him because he planed to build a black onyx replica of the Taj just across the river--something that would have put even more financial stress on an empire already suffering from the cost of this build. There's a good chance, however, that this story is false, and that the son, Aurangzeb, imprisoned his father for fear that he would try to take back his empire. In either case, after the death of Shahjahan, Aurangzeb had his tomb placed in the main building of the Taj Mahal, next to his wife. It's clear that this wasn't planned when the monument was built, as everything else about it is symmetrical in every way, except for the oddly placed tomb of the emperor, off to the side of his wife. We went to this odd little marble shop, where a pleasant woman gave us a demonstration of how marble is cut and how the inlay is done (like at the Taj Mahal). Then that very nice lady became rather formidable as she went into a pretty high pressured sales pitch, pushing us to buy everything from huge marble tables to small marble boxes, almost all of which we couldn't afford or carry home with us. She "showed" us how Italian marble crumbles when scratched, and went on about the Famous Indian Marble, and how we would never find any marble like hers, and no craftsmanship like in her shop. Given, Indian marble is some of the best in the world, and it has all the qualities she described in it, but her sales pitch was nothing if not shady, followed by her eventual demands that we buy something. Nonetheless, the marble demonstration was quite fascinating, and Indian marble really is amazing, with it's beautiful color, strength, and translucency (which you can see in this table, lit from inside). It's no wonder the Taj Mahal glows different colors at different times of the day. I would love to have seen it at sunrise, sunset, and in the middle of the night, as well as the middle of the day. It glows different shades of blue, orange, yellow, white, and almost purple, depending on the time of day. Now that is some amazing marble!
Buland Darwaza is the largest of gateways in the world. It is located in Fatehpur Sikri which is located 43 km away from Agra, India.
Architecture
The Buland Darwaza towers above the courtyard of the mosque. The Buland Darwaza is semi octagonal in plan and is topped by pillars and chhatris. Buland Darwaza echoes early Mughal design with simple ornamentation, carved verses from the Koran and towering arches. There are thirteen smaller domed kiosks on the roof, stylized battlement and small turrets and inlay work of white and black marble. On the outside a long flight of steps sweeps down the hill giving the gateway additional height. A Persian inscription on eastern archway of the Buland Darwaza records Akbar's conquest over Deccan in 1601 A.D.
