At the foot of the site where this photo was taken (Eagle’s Nest), and only a few miles away a certain Adolf Hitler had his holiday residence (called Berghof). About the man there are only terrible things to say, but the view he had is magnificent.
The Berghof was bombed by the Allies in April 1945 and demolished a few years later. There is now a documentation centre on the site.

"It's back" - is the debut novel by the German journalist and writer Timur Vermes, which was published in 2012.
The novel is a satire in which Adolf Hitler comes back to life on a green meadow in the middle of Berlin in 2011.
After the armistice in November 1918, the warring factions left the devartated landscape along the Western front orphaned.
After one of the bloddiest battles in history for four years, the gains along the Western front at most a mere mile.
The rulers and the butchers wiped out an entire generation of young men in these four insane years and those who survived had major psychological problems, were severly maimed or blind from the poison gas or were missing one or more limbs.
The fate that remained for them after the insane war was bitter poverty or begging. No one, but no one cared of them, even though they were supposedly devated to heroes.
The butchers like Haig, Foch and other scum got all the fame and fortune they had in no way deserved and it was they who were considered the unsurpassed heroes.
Allthough US President Wilson held the Germans responsible for the insane war, he did not accuse them for the outbreak of the conflict.
This is a very strange diplomatic statement to say the least, and in fact he meant to say that no one was guilty of the outbreak of the war.
It is therefor very strange to conclude that Germany was responsible for it and was senteneed to pay the war reparations.
Regardless, Germany had to start making recovery payments and the country was plunged into a great economic misery.
A certain Adolf Hitler who had fought as a volunteer in the insane war with the German army appeared on the political stage as an insignificant person and founded the political party "NSDAP" which was initially a very small party.
From the mid- 20 s onwards, the economy of Germany continued to improve, but this growth ended in 1930 with the Great Depression that raged worldwide and making Germany unable to meet its recovery payments.The party leader of the "NSDAP" Adolf Hitler managed to draw more and more peoples into his party and his political ideas through his talent for speaking and won a monstrous victory in the 1933 elections.
However, his party was characterized by extreme Nationalism and anti- Semitism.
The horific consequenses are known: WW 2 is a direct consequence of the insane WW 1.
The reason for this is the Treaty of Versailles in which Germany felt humilated to the bone and called this Treaty "Das Diktat" ( The Dictate).
Adolf Hitler took full advantage of this feeling of humilation.
And what have we learned from these horrible 2 world wars?
The answer is: NOTHING!!
We have now come to justice in one of the most serious economic crises after WW 2.
Of course the corona virus is to blame for this, but before the outbreak of the pandemic things did not go well economically, despite the many billions that the ECB injected in the economy.
Right- wing populism and nationalism are popping up in just about every country, countries becoming increaslinly intolerable towards eachother and the social cohesion between peoples increasingly disappearing.
The ECB continues to inject even more billions in the economy and that is the reason why many think it will not go that fast.
But those who know the history are starting to scratch their heads and have their reservation about this and especially how it will end if the bailout of the economy fails.
Of course I sincerely hope that I am totally wrong, but there are clearly signs that allows me to compare now and then.........

The shot was taken from one of the highest points of Bavarian mountains located at Austrian & German border. It was so high you have walk through passing clouds and chilly wind.
In just another 5 mins entire place was covered with clouds and visibility was zero. On the right hand bottom of the image you can see the clouds just coming in.
This is from my archives, processed single RAW file straight from the camera other than slightly tweaking curves in photoshop.
Trivia
The Kehlsteinhaus (also known as the Eagle's Nest), is a chalet-style building which when built was an extension of the Obersalzberg complex built by the Nazis in the German Alps near Berchtesgaden. The Kehlsteinhaus was an official 50th birthday present for Adolf Hitler. Nicknamed Eagle's Nest by a French diplomat, it was meant to be a retreat for Hitler and a place for him to entertain visiting dignitaries.
*in reference to Klara Hitler giving birth to her little beast, named Adi, on april 2oth, 1889 at Braunau am Inn, Austria. Adi, later better know as Adolf Hitler.

Houses on the opposite side of the road provided the reflections which contorted as the eye moved. The green stone work providing a frame within a frame, within a frame.

This time, what we see are the bridges spanning the river – notably, in the foreground, Ponte Vecchio, one of the most celebrated bridges in the world. Immediately behind it is Ponte Santa Trinita.
Building work on the Ponte Vecchio was completed in 1345 and the structure has always been notable for its shops. In medieval times they were tanners, butchers, fishmongers and the like; today they are jewellers, art dealers and souvenir shops.
One point of modern history. During the Second World War, the Ponte Vecchio was the only bridge on the Arno spared by retreating German forces in August 1944, apparently on the orders of Hitler himself; all the others were destroyed.

The museum's explanatory text for this painting states:
"In a series of complex allegories in the style of political caricatures from the 18th and 19th centuries, Kokoschka voices his criticism of the allied forces' policy of appeasement towards Hitler's aggressive war policy. [He provided a corresponding commentary on a photograph of this painting (the first two sentences are also in the original in English):] "The 'Anschluss' 1939 [sic!]*. Speak not evil, see not evil, hear not evil, this is how the three monkeys in the Buddhist legend are remembered. The truth must neither be told, heard nor seen, even though it is covered by a big leaf, but Vienna may burn and the children there may be left to starve. The Great Powers of this day don't seem to mind this, carrying on calmly with their violence policy. OK."
A politician, identified as Nevil Chamberlain by his helmet and his moustache, a Nazi soldier, and a bishop bring their hands to their heads, like the monkeys who say no, see no and hear no evil. The male protagonists symbolize the three major European powers - England, Nazi Germany and France - and the three authorities - capital, military and clergy - whose abuse of power has brought Europe to the brink of its existence. The smiling Alice [...] portrays the naked "truth" and personification of Austria. She is standing, surrounded by a barbed-wire border in front of a Veinna in flames, behind a beheaded Mother of God: the sacrificed life-giving principle. According to Kokoschka, Austria had let in the dangers of Austro-fascism at the latest with the civil war in 1934 - which he also expounded in texts such as 'The Essence of Austrian Cultural History' (1945) - and thereby become an easy "victim" of Nazi control, passively tolerated by the Western powers."
* The so-called Anschluss took place in 1938. But perhaps the year refers to the year of creation of this painting. 1939 seems to me much more likely than the year 1942 given in the museum. At any rate, the consequences of the Western policy of appeasement in the case of Hitler's war policy teach us that such a policy leads to millions of deaths and is completely irresponsible. Appeasement in the case of Putin, Hitler's revenant, would be a crime against humanity.

I came up with this drawing by first drawing a Grateful Dead bear in blackface. The synthesis of oppressive cultural imagery with an icon of an ostensibly harmonious, peaceful cultural movement was amusing in a twisted way, so I started brainstorming of what other kinds of symbols to pervert the bear with. The end product ends up resembling Buer, and I'm okay with that. It's an extra layer of hilarity.
The title was somewhat determined by the [America] theme of the show I made this piece for. Given the context of the show, the piece's reference to nazism(an oft-quoted quality of our political system according to some), nazism's concept of the Übermensch, and a shared last name, I got the random idea to reference Laurie Anderson's "United States". Specifically, I borrowed the titles from two songs from Anderson's work, "O Superman" and "Language is a Virus (from Outer Space)".
No real intended meaning aside from the humor that results from combining two extremes and then kinda cherrypicking references as they occur to me to add more layers to the initial gag. This was for art-nerd fun.

The Mercedes-Benz 770 K on exhibit in the Technik Museum Sinsheim was delivered to the Reichskanzlei in 1938 to serve for representation purposes. Technologically, the massive automobile that was employed in many parades of the time, was absolutely state-of-the-art. So did the design of the chassis e.g. employ various developments derived from the construction of racing cars.
To protect the passengers from assassination attempts the car had a mine-proof armor clad floor. In addition, it was equipped with windowpanes composed of several centimeters of bullet-proof glass armored doors as well as a retractable armor plate behind the rear seats. Where as the cabrio sott top, in the nature of things does not have any possibilities to be armor clad.
This predicament as well as the fact that Hitler used to ride in parades with the top down, and in addition to that liked to stand in an upright position seem to render these precautions more than dubious considering that they would have offered any protection below the waistline only. The car was propelled by a colossal 8-cylinder supercharged in-line engine with a displacement of 7.6 liters which produced an output of 230 hp already at a mere 3200 rpm. In spite of the enormous weight caused by the massive armoring this enabled the car to reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h, no less.

Volkswagen Beetle from the 60's. Adolf Hitler contracted Ferdinand Porsche in 1934 to design and build this cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of Germany.

The USCGC Eagle taken at sunrise in Halifax harbour. The ship was built in 1936 and named after a well know member of the Nazi Party - Horst Wessel and commissioned by Adolf Hitler. At the end of World War II it was taken by the United States as part of war reparations. After repairs she was commissioned into the United States Coast Guard as the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle on 15 May 1946.

La Luz la acompaña en esta pintura, Ella tiene una mirada soñadora como acostumbran a tener las personas iluminadas por sueños complejos y llenos de esperanza, cuadros del artista pintor Ernest Descals con los retratos de los personajes de la historia silenciada, obras realizadas con acuarelas y gouache sobre papel de acuarela, expresiones y misticismo.

A few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor (1933), a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200.000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here. 41.500 were murdered.
Displayed here you see the camp prison called "the bunker", one of the few remains of the camp.
This picture is made from a courtyard of the Flughafen Tempelhof. When we walk out if the building towards this place it seemed quite normal. But what was special about this place, was that the fourth floor of the building, was actually the first floor seen from the outside of the airport. This was because this courtyard was close to the hidden bunkers inside the airport that were just during the second World War. This courtyard was used for the supplying of the bunkers, in case the people had to stay there for a long time. To make this possible, there was a whole railway system underneath the airport get this transport to the bunkers.
The "Flughafen Tempelhof" was constructed around 1927, but due to the financial problem it wasn't finished. After the elections of 1932 Hitler made the airport his own project. This airport would become the biggest one in the world and should show the world the power of the "Drittes Reich". On the roof of the airport, Hitler planned to build a huge stadium. This was planned for some flightshows to show the people the advanced technology and the power of the Reich. However this plan didn't finished as well. But what was finished was the extended roof among which the airplans were able to fit. Hitler made this plan to make sure that the passengers were able to get in the airport under the best conditions. The roof is a metal construction of forty meters, among which the airplanes of that time could easily fit.
During the war the airport stayed in good conditions. A reason for this was because the Americans knew already that if Berlin would be divided among the allies, that the airport would be in their district of Berlin. After the war they split the airport. On one side the airport was used for commercial flights, on the other side the Americans builded a military base.

Entrance to an unfinished shaft in the Platterhof/Gästehaus tunnel complex, which originally connected to the SS Tunnel System and Hitler's Berghof bunker, some 50 feet beneath this one. In the center is a view looking into the shaft, showing where the winch mechanism was originally mounted. This view is looking down into the shaft. This is often described as an elevator shaft, but it apparently was used only to winch up excavation debris from tunnels further below. The shaft originally had a wooden staircase in it
