"Life is like a high profile prostitute, it will f*ck you in every direction."

Adarsh Gupta

I have always wanted to experience and photograph a clearing storm in Yosemite. It looked like I could finally have my opportunity as there was a forecasted spring rain storm in the valley during the last weekend of April. As there was a likelihood of the spring storm clearing on Monday morning I arrived at Tunnel View just before sunrise.

The valley looked dramatic even before the sun started rising. There was mist on the valley floor, low clouds, and high clouds; perfect conditions for a sunrise clearing.

Soon the sun started rising, and the clouds lit up, lifting the curtains for a spectacular sunrise clearing.

I think this was with EOS 400D + OM Zuko 135 F3.5. The exif data would show 50mm F2, but that is because the af confirm chip on the lens adapter misleads the camera into thinking that it is a EF 50mm lens at F2 even though it does meter properly in AV mode. This is a very "Adarsh Padegal" kind of photograph!!! You should check out his stream for silhouettes. He does some extraordinary work against the light!

An undeveloped stretch, with not much traffic, especially at mid-day, so I do not think I hampered anything with my photographing!

Pranav must be happy now.. uploading more than 1 pic per day :P

You are correct Adarsh. He is been my inspiration from the day i started clicking so i wanted to try lot of his shots as learning curve. I knew imitation wont work for long .. but still wanted to learn all the tricks and technique he uses. I think i can dedicate this to my Guru and good friend Ashok

I have always wanted to experience and photograph a clearing storm in Yosemite. It looked like I could finally have my opportunity as there was a forecasted spring rain storm in the valley during the last weekend of April. As there was a likelihood of the spring storm clearing on Monday morning I arrived at Tunnel View with my son (who is also learning photography) just before sunrise.

Photographing a high contrast scene like this however is not easy. It can challenge even the best photographers as things happen so quickly with the light changing fast and the clouds moving. But that’s also what I enjoy doing the most as it challenges me to try different compositions quickly. I switched to a vertical composition in the photograph below as I thought the sunlit clouds above, the mist in the valley and the trees in the foreground were all interesting. I cropped some sky on top as I liked how it made everything else more prominent.

All in all, we had a great time and we were extremely glad we could make it to Yosemite that weekend.

This is the view of Bahrain from the 41st floor of the 49 storey building, The Almoayyed Towers. When constructed, it was the tallest tower in the whole of Bahrain, at 172 metres. As of now, the 42nd to 49th stories are not yet furnished and hence its superfast elevators can't reach there. Besides, I learnt that they're going to construct a helipad on the terrace of this tower.

The view was simply breathtaking! Cold gusts of December wind were threatening us as we stood on the paraphet. Since I didn't want to gather unnecessary attention of security personnel, I had left my tripod at home. This was by far the best shot I got.

All 360 degrees around the building had equally stunning views. This one is overlooking the Seef Mall.

Thanks to my buddy, Dinesh for taking me to this wonderful place!

A significant reason for coming to Vista-Bharati University is the incredible students that I've encountered here. This is Adarsh – mark his name because someday I'm guessing you'll read about him. What an energetic and sharp mind!

Guess how I did that!

Very simple!

1. Take a DVD

2. Coat it with a layer of a thin (less viscous) oil

3. Wipe it clean with a tissue to remove the excess oil

4. Sprinkle droplets of clean water

5. Grab your camera and have fun now
