UP 1112, 2094 rock and roll westbound on decrepit track at Weingarten, MO. past a photographer and a gentleman poking his head out the door to see what all the commotion is about.
1) an old tin lunchbox filled with little tins, each one containing a little plastic shamrock (from a pack i found at a party store a few years ago, i think meant to scatter on a table?). T likes to find the tiny things inside, and make a little pile, then open everything again to replace the items. 2) transferring green water in a divided bowl with a mini baster; the sponge is to wipe up spills but sometimes he uses it to get the last drops of water out. 3) everything needed to plant shamrocks: a soil pod and just enough water to reconstitute it in the dish, a tiny rake for fluffing up the soil and a tiny shovel for transferring it to the pot, seeds and a water spritzer. 4). soap-making activity: the grater is attached to a bowl, so after T grates the little soap he can remove the lid, add water from the bottle and whisk away. after the bubbles settle down we are pouring the mixture into a spray bottle he can use to clean his table in the kitchen.
We decided to take an unscheduled 3 hour horse ride up the mountain, instead of a bumpy 4 hour bus ride. The views were awesome. It was a steep climb, with lots of mud.
