A powerful statement on equality and human rights in a contemporary gallery (colour version).
Note the shadow art. The last two lines of the model's(*) t-shirt read (No room for...) 'sexism' and 'hate'.

THE STORY | LA HISTORIA
(EN) After seeing this compelling sculpture inside MACA, I noticed the guy wearing that outstanding t-shirt with a female friend, now on the same floor. So I thought: ‘Wouldn't a picture be great...’ set against the repressing, ominous overtones of the shadow art. So I walked over to chat and ask. Luckily, he and his friend were both really nice people. I've sent him the larger version pictures from the photo session and hope they're of use in helping him achieve those aims, raise people's consciousness and oppose bigotry.

Red-tailed green rat snake threatens further action today as he ties up his local tree in a knot - apparently protesting what he feels was an unwarranted spell in the close observation clinic. Zoo officials are threatening to remove all trees from his exhibit. They refuse to comment on red-tailed green rat snake's tongue action.

Cesare Tamaroccio, Italian painter of the Bolognese school, pupil of Francesco Francia, active at the beginning of the 16th century - Madonna and Child with little St. John (1500-1550) - tempera on panel 57 x 42.4 cm - Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Milan
The Virgin turns her gaze toward the viewer, while holding Jesus in her lap, who turns to the little St. John the Baptist. Cesare Tamaroccio, left his signature on the outer edge of Mary's mantle. In the past, the inscription was sometimes considered apocryphal, therefore not original, but a recent restoration (2005) has confirmed its authenticity. This is a not insignificant fact, since the one described here is the only signed work of the painter. The style of this Madonna reveals the typical characteristics of painting in Bologna on the threshold of the sixteenth century. It is probable that Tamaroccio was a native of the city and that he had participated in the decoration of the oratory of Santa Cecilia, the most vital site of Bolognese painting at the beginning of the sixteenth century (1505-1506), in whose frescoes took part, among others, Lorenzo Costa, Francesco Francia and Amico Aspertini. In this panel Tamaroccio faithfully follows the models of Lorenzo Costa, but with a delicacy in modeling the flesh tones and with an attention to the landscape typical of the first decade of the sixteenth century. The serene face of the Virgin, the view of Perugia on the right and fashionable details such as the purple veil, which unfolds in a long band to cover the child, reveal a very close dialogue with Bolognese painting.

People craft their "public selves" and accompanying opinions to obtain social reward in the form of a positive image and response from their friends on social media. Social issues and critique become buzzwords or clickbait and lose their rebellious force. Memes and slogan's about desperate social issues are used to accumulate cultural capital and social rewards. In this process the public self and the social issues become commodities to achieve a personal reward and a sense of self-esteem, but rarely is any change achieved nor are the conditons associated with the soicial or political issue improved at all. This is the danger of social media slactivism.

I am a retired female US Army combat veteran and gun owner. I demand the right to own military grade weapons including assault rifles, machineguns, and pistols along with their high capacity magazines. I also believe that US citizenship should be required and that the weapon should be registered and the owner be licensed. Motor vehicles kill far more people than guns, but few people call for the abolition of individual vehicle ownership or to ban the sale of vehicles that go faster than the maximum speed limit. I am a LIBERAL and strongly support responsible gun ownership and death by public hanging of all those convicted of using or attempting to use guns to commit crimes or terrorist acts.
Guns in the wrong hands are a problem, but less of a problem than motor vehicles in the wrong hands. Every year, cars kill as many people as 5 years of the Vietnam War. If foolish liberal leaders allow the gun issue to have priority, then we stand a very good chance of loosing out on liberal issues of far greater importance like ending US involvement in the Afghanistan War, mitigating Global Warming, implementing High Speed passenger rail throughout our nation, expanding mass transit in all our cities, halting sub-urban sprawl, protecting our environment, getting a GLBT-friendly ENDA law passed, reversing DOMA, protecting internet neutrality, holding the financial institutions accountable for the continuing recession that began under Bush II, getting election finance reform, halting the mountaintop removal method of coal mining, getting immigration reform passed, and preserving our social/financial safety net.
Switzerland is a country a lot more liberal than the US, but every able-bodied male is required to have a registered assault rifle at home, and that country has far less crime than the US. The weapons I am refering to are originally government issued since Switzerland relies on a home based, highly trained citizen's militia instead of a full-time army; however, Swiss soildiers are encourged to buy their service assault rifle after they retire, keep it at home, continue practicing with it, and to train their family members. All those military grade weapons in the hands of responsible citizens also helps keep their government free and honest.
I am sick and tired of the liberal establishment using the crimes of sick people as an excuse to take away the guns of responsible citizens. Do I hear a cry to take away cars from all drivers just because 30,000 Americans are killed by cars on our highways every year? Is there a call to ban gasoline, diesel fuel, motor oil, fertilizer, matches, and cell phones (as detonators) because a few people make bombs out of them? Are ski masks or panyhose going to be banned because some robbers wear them to hide their faces during bank robberies?
The gun ownership issue could kill progress on all liberal causes. To my liberal sisters and brothers in the United States: don't be stupid and blow our whole liberal agenda just because of one divisive issue!

WEEK 2 – Southaven Gordmans Liquidates Again (I)
Exiting the vestibule and entering the store, here’s our first overview shot of the salesfloor, looking more or less straight ahead – but with a bit of an angle towards the left side wall, as can be seen on the left of the pic. Compare to this view after the store reopened in 2017 – immediately you should be able to make out a number of changes, but I’m not going to spell out exactly what those are just yet! (Gotta save something for the eight weeks’ worth of descriptions this series is making me write, lol :P )
Speaking of comparison views, though – Lord knows I probably have plenty of good ones, but I can already go ahead and tell you now that I’m sure I’ll either forget or be too lazy to link to a lot of them as this series progresses. So please, if you’d like to make comparisons on your own, feel free to check out my existing album of this store here – or either of l_dawg2000’s albums, too, one from the first liquidation and reopening and the other from the 2020 closure.
