OoF is the acronym for Out of Frame. This isn't the sort of picture that wants or needs a bit of OoF. It is a dull local history record shot. I just fancied a white frame but I didn't want to move that high flying black headed gull. Having the bird OoF is a simple compromise. O.K. I know I should forgo the frame or move the bird but it "tickled" me to do neither.

KING NESTOR AND THE EXPERIMENT
Nestor was king of Pylos, Homer mentions him as wise, and formidable interlocutor. The Mycenaean tholos tomb photo was discovered very close to the Palace of the Upper Englianos at Pylos and rumored to be the legendary King Nestor eg 1550-1500 The experiment named NESTOR (from the ancient wise king) and acronym (Neutrino Extended Submarine Telescope with Oceanographic Research Project) began in 1997 and performed in more depth in the Mediterranean in 5000m, located in the sea of Pylos. The aim of the experiment is the detection of neutrinos at 4000 m, with the help of a giant submarine telescope (300m). The detection would provide valuable information about the universe and the birth. If, as the story indicates, that King Nestor was wise and if his soul today is hovering somewhere in the depths of the universe then will surely rejoice from this rare conversation of myth and science, past and future that bears his name of.
I have named this image of the Razorback at Port Campbell after a new acronym I learnt for Fig Jam while away this weekend. I bought some for my dearly beloved whom I left at home while I was out gallivanting around the stunning beaches of Port Campbell with the Famous Flickr Five Plus. I wondered why they were laughing at me for buying it for him.
The acronym does not apply to my photography of course but rather is dedicated to this amazing place and the people I shared this with.

Ngl that rain took ages to edit in. Pretty happy with the result though!
Also, fun fact; the name of this pic signifies 2 things hehe: Rise of Artificial, which is one of my fav oldschool underground bands from my home country, and "roua" means morning dew in my mother tongue. ROA is an acronym for the band, and the same way you pronounce "roua".

The east end of the Manhattan Bridge (which crosses the East River just north of the fabled Brooklyn Bridge), framed by old brick buildings in Brooklyn’s ‘Dumbo’ neighborhood.
Dumbo? An acronym for ‘Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass’, which itself is the section of road on the near side of the bridge tower. Dumbo is a pretty cool neighborhood, but I’m not sure I could put up with the noise that the overpass generates.

Zoom time! The 1899 Bayard- Condict Building at 65 Bleecker St in the downtown NoHo (an acronym for Canal St North of Houston) neighborhood of lower Manhattan. The building was designed by American architect Louis Sullivan"who was called "the father of the modern skyscraper".Sullivan was also a mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright. This was Sullivan's only NY building, most of his work was done in Chicago where he also died penniless.Frank Lloyd Wright paid for his funeral expenses. There are some really great and complex carved details on this building.I don't want to tell you where they are,but there are some winged angels on the building, also.Don't wanna spoil it for you.If you find them, you'll enjoy the architecture more than if I told you where they are.Have fun looking. daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2010/07/louis-sullivans-18...

The Universal-Mavometer (with the acronym “Mavometer” standing for Multi-Ampere-Volt-Meter) by Gossen, Erlangen, Germany, is an early precursor of what we call a “multimeter”. It was an (at its time) cutting-edge high precision moving coil instrument, offering – as such – a single DC voltage and current range each (0.1V and 2mA, respectively). Thanks to a large variety of calibrated series and shunt resistors (the little boxes), the measurement range could be extended for all electronics applications of its time.

I've found that the easiest way for me to keep track of the upcoming themes for the various Flickr groups that I post to is to write each group's theme on a sheet of yellow pad paper. I fold it up and carry it in my shirt pocket for quick reference, so it gets kinda tattered by the time the sheet fills up.
When each theme passes, I cross it off, and check it if I post an image for it. As you can see here, this week's "Paper" theme for MM (Macro Monday) has been checked; that's thanks to this image. As for CT (Crazy Tuesday)...well, that's still pending. :-)

The LG initials in LG Electronics stand for “Lucky Goldstar” since 1983. When LG rebranded in 1995, it adopted the simple acronym LG alongside the slogan “Life’s Good”. The logo has a stylized smiling face. To me, it's smiling and winking.

It was nice to get out to my local park today - nothing strenuous, thought I'd finally try my hand at a dragonfly or two. There were a few. Of course, the object would be to get one in flight. I was thinking maybe a whole new acronym class like DIF - dragonfly in flight. Anyway, this guy reminded me a bit of a hummingbird changing direction. And ya gotta love that face.

JOMO: Joy of Missing Out. Feeling content with staying in and disconnecting as a form of self-care. - Mindfulness in Daily Living.
This is a new acronym I discovered and it suits my lifestyle this month. Although I do get out for local walks, I am content to stay close to home for a few weeks. I need the occasional breaks from the news and I look out my window at the birds that are becoming more active at the feeder. Plus, we can save money not using our car as we can plan our next trip to a few of Canada’s wonderful parks once spring arrives. Happy Wing Wednesday!
The 1858 cast iron "Little Cary"building located at 620 Broadway in the NoHo (an acronym for North of Houston St) section of downtown Manhattan. It's labeled as the "little Cary Building"because it's a near copy of a building (also a cast iron structure) built two years before it on 105 Chambers St called by that name.Cast iron façades was an early invention back then and it was used on buildings to make them look like masonry, and they were cheaper than cement. If you zoom in you can see the metal nuts still fastened to the wall and the faux masonry bricks, and even some signs of rust. The six-story,palazzo like structure had to quickly be put up because another building where new inventions from the 1858 World's Fair were being displayed had burned down, some newer items were shown at this new one. That was another reason for the cast iron facade on the new building, because the material was considered "fire proof"daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2012/01/1858-cast-iron-no-...

Oheka Castle, also known as the Otto Kahn Estate, is located on the North Shore of Long Island, in Huntington, New York. It was the country home of investment financier and philanthropist Otto Hermann Kahn and his family. The name Oheka is an acronym of its original owner's name Otto Hermann Kahn, which Kahn also used to name his yacht Oheka II and his ocean-front Villa Oheka in Palm Beach, Florida. The mansion was built by Kahn between 1914 and 1919, and is the second largest private home in the United States, comprising 127 rooms and over 109,000 square feet (10,100 m2), as originally configured.
The castle is currently a historic hotel with 32 guest rooms and suites on the upper floors of the mansion, a popular wedding venue for socialites, celebrities, and dignitaries, and the backdrop to many photo shoots and Hollywood films. The estate also offers tours of the estate and gardens.
In 2004, Oheka was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Oheka Castle is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 1st of October is “flora SOOC”. Do you know what SOOC is the acronym for? I certainly didn’t, but luckily our “Smile on Saturday” administrator, Maria, kindly advised that it means “straight out of the camera”. Therefore, no post-processing to sharpen the image, alter the colour or anything else is allowed. This theme suits me very well for two reasons: firstly, it is spring where I live so I have been photographing lots of new spring blooms, secondly, I don’t tend do a great deal of post-processing of my images anyway. Therefore, this was a wonderful theme for me! I hope you like my choice of image for the theme, and that it makes you smile.
I took a stroll in the spring sunshine the other day, and I walked past this beautiful pink, sweetly fragrant, rose which is thriving in the original garden of a stylish 1930s Art Deco clinker brick villa. I do not know the variety of rose, other than it is English and the bush is quite old. The little old Italian lady who lives in the house cannot speak a word of English, and I don’t speak a great deal of Italian, so I can’t ask her. She loves her garden, and she always has a wonderful show of rose blooms throughout the warmer months of the year.
Spring has finally come to Melbourne after a long and grey winter, and everywhere, gardens are bursting forth with beautiful coloured blooms in a profusion of colours after a wetter than usual winter.
