Had a nice walk around the lake at our local park this morning...until... I came across a Canada Goose sat by the lake, with what looked like a crossbow bolt through its head...quite distressing to see. I rang the RSPCA as soon as I got home. They sent an inspector out to investigate, she updated me later ...the goose flew onto the lake when she approached it, but looked like it might be coping ok and eating...for now. They will follow it up over the next few days and make a decision on whether or not to try and catch it.....
there are some sick people out there who get a kind of warped pleasure from injuring innocent creatures...:-(
update re Goose...It was eventually caught by the RSPCA who seem fairly confident that after the bolt is removed...it should be ok and will be resettled in a swan rescue centre....well done to the RSPCA who follow up and don't give up when an incident of animal cruelty is reported!!

Eine meiner ganz alten Akustik-Gitarren. Sie ist sehr schwer zu spielen .. aber sie hat einen unwiderstehlichen Charme.
One of my very old acoustic guitars. It is very difficult to play .. but it has an irresistible charm.
This is Big Hogan alcove / amphitheater. We are south of Thunderbird Mesa on private Tribal land. Oftentimes the Tour Guides will play Navajo flute and drums and sing traditional Navajo songs. The acoustics are excellent and the setting is spectacular. There is a big hole in the roof and you can see the light on the wall.

Big Hogan is a cave natural arch eroded in DeChelly sandstone. It is located very close to Moccasin Arch. It is one of several nice arches which are included in the commercial Monument Valley tours that go to the area south of the self-guided loop drive. This arch is within the boundaries of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and a Navajo guide is required for any visitation.

Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, pronounced [tsʰépìːʔ ǹtsɪ̀skɑ̀ìː], meaning valley of the rocks) is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor.[1] It is located on the Utah-Arizona state line, near the Four Corners area. The valley is a sacred area that lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation, the Native American people of the area.[2]
Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his Westerns; critic Keith Phipps wrote that "its five square miles [13 square kilometers] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West."[3]

Taken at the Upper Rock in Gibraltar.
The cave was created by rainwater slowly seeping through the limestone rock, turning into a weak carbonic acid which gradually dissolved the rock. Through this process, tiny cracks in The Rock's geological fault grew into long passages and large caverns over thousands of years. The numerous stalactites and stalagmites in the cave are formed by an accumulation of traces of dissolved rock deposited by water dripping from the ground above.
This shot if of the largest of the chambers, named the Cathedral Cave, currently serves as an auditorium. It was converted due to the chamber's natural acoustic properties, which according to experts, enhances and blends tones into a uniform and faithful rendition of sound. It is equipped with a seating capacity of over 100.
The lighting system has been replaced with a new system that is electronically controlled to change colours.

It is a magnificent building which can be seen rising out from the Blyth estuary — sometimes affectionately called ‘The Cathedral of the Marshes’.
The church has wonderful acoustics and is often used for concerts, and its light and airy space is used for art exhibitions. It is also a well used community space.

“I like those older theaters – the acoustics are perfect, I mean, you just have that feel of there’s been a thousand shows in there and now you get to be one.” Billy Gardell.
In my previous Epidaurus Theatre photograph, I already mentioned the perfect acoustics of this amazing Ancient Greek building. Beyond the architectural beauty of this monument, with its well-preserved stands, being lucky enough to hear a performance here is quite an experience in itself. Although the theater is still used today for the performance of ancient Greek plays, none were scheduled during our visit to the Peloponnese.
However, I was able to enjoy the beautiful voice of my wife singing from the center of the scene, which together with the photographs and videos that we were able to capture, was the perfect show for our story.

En mi anterior fotografía del Teatro de Epidaurus, ya mencioné la acústica perfecta de este increíble edificio de la Grecia Antigua. Más allá de la belleza arquitectónica de este monumento, con su graderío tan bien conservado, tener la suerte de escuchar una actuación aquí es toda una experiencia en sí misma. Aunque todavía hoy se sigue usando el teatro para la representación de obras griegas antiguas, durante nuestra visita al Peloponeso no había programada ninguna.
No obstante, pude disfrutar de la preciosa voz de mi mujer cantando desde el centro de la escena, lo que junto a las fotografías y vídeos que pudimos realizar, fue el espectáculo perfecto para nuestra historia.
One of the delights of Bologna is discovering the many 'hidden' courtyards and little secluded gardens. I chanced upon one of them on my visit to the utterly wonderful International Music Museum and Library. Friar Giambattista Martini (1706-1784), the founder of this great collection and one of the first theorists of counterpoint, was himself not a foremost composer, although he did write lots of music. His strength lies in his great knowledge of the history of music and his inspired collecting of everything pertaining to that great art. The museum contains a wonderful gallery of paintings of composers and musicians, of manuscripts, scores and printed musical books, and lots of instruments.
The palazzo now the home to that collection has a long and complicated history and its decorations are quite marvelous and fit well with music. The second courtyard - the main photo - is utterly handsome with its plantation of bananas against a great frescoed landscape - much in need of restoration - by Luigi Busatti (1763-1821). Note the cymbal striker in the background. That reminded me of Psalm 150, of course. And hence it seemed appropriate to include as an inset a photo of the frontispiece - in the museum - of Marin Mersenne's (1588-1648) Harmonie universelle, contentant la thèorie et la pratique de la musique (1636). Mersenne is often called the 'Father of Acoustics', and besides being a well-known mathematician he also wrote on the harmonics of vibrating strings. Think Guitars and Pianos and Violins and the likes. Mersenne, a Minim friar, knew the Bible well, and on that frontispiece referred to Psalm 70, 22, to underwrite his Universal Harmony. The secluded garden is surely and image of that ideal.
Another one from the family album. Dr Clarion's legendary acoustics lectures were dreaded by generations of hung over students.

One. of the best acoustics that I have ever heard in a concert hall. The architecture is outstanding in every way, as is the performance of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra who are based here.

This is my first photo since 6 months since I've been occupied lately with workshops, mentorships and writing books.This photo was taken in New York City on a very early morning at the Vision Explorers workshop. It's a tilt-shift shot consisting of 3 horizontally shifted images making up for a 3:1 panoramic shot. Each shot taken with the Formatt-Hitech IRND filters, totalling 16 stops per image and each image with a long exposure time of around 6 minutes.

His books should be considered essential gear on any trip into the Four Corners states. This slot is in Long Canyon on the Burr Trail but is easily missed. Inside, the acoustics are excellent. The Jarvis Street Baptist Church is a Baptist church located at the intersection of Gerrard Street and Jarvis Street in Toronto's Garden District. One of the oldest churches in the city, its congregation was founded in 1818, and the present church constructed in 1875. It is a member of the Sovereign Grace Fellowship of Canada.
History
Inside the church
Early records indicate that by 1827, church meetings were held at the Masonic Hall on Colborne Street. The congregation then bought property on Lombard Street and constructed a small chapel in 1832. It was then known also as the Baptist Church of York. By 1848, the congregation had moved to Bond Street and became known simply as Bond Street Baptist Church with a membership that grew to 400 by the late 1860s. Beginning with Bond Street and continuing through at Jarvis Street an outreach was begun further west which was established in 1880 as Beverley Street Baptist Church. (See also Toronto Chinese Baptist Church.)
The present church was erected on Jarvis Street in 1875, with a large donation to the construction costs from the Canadian Senator and banker, William McMaster.[3] The newly formed Baptist Union of Canada held its first meeting at Jarvis Street in October 1880. In 1882, William McMaster, William Elliot (a member of Jarvis Street and a Toronto pharmacist and businessman),[4] and others established the Standard Publishing Company, which published the Canadian Baptist, transferring that enterprise from private ownership to a denominational enterprise.
