Access to the Courtyard of the Minor Schools of the University of Salamanca, a fundamental example of Spanish civil architecture located in the historic center of the city. Built mainly in the early 16th century, the structure displays the characteristic Plateresque style, using Villamayor sandstone, whose natural oxidation gives it the golden hue that defines Salamanca's chromatic identity. The perspective highlights a double arcade with a lowered profile, supported by a central granite column, serving as a transition between the street and the internal cloister. Above this entrance, there is an elaborate stone relief bearing the imperial coat of arms of Charles V, framed by the Golden Fleece, symbolizing royal patronage of the academic institution. Historically, this building was dedicated to preparatory or bachelor's studies, distinguishing it from the Escolas Maiores (Higher Schools) intended for bachelor's and doctoral degrees. The complex is also recognized for currently housing the “Cielo de Salamanca,” a 15th-century astronomical fresco representing the legacy of one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1218.
