Culverthorpe farm abstract

Not quite how I want to get this - rotten light and rain, still - but I love the way the textures and colours work on these houses and have been trying to get this abstract for ages

one of my contacts talked about this technique - and I'd been meaning to try it. It's very simple - you fill a glass pan with a half inch of water, then pour in some cooking oil. Just a bit. Lay something colorful on the ground (a Hawaiian shirt in this case) and put the pan on top of it. You need to put something between the pan and the cloth to lift the pan up a bit. I used a few drinking cups.

Then shoot. I think the original instructions said someone used a telephoto, but I wound up using my extension tubes and getting very close.

It was too windy to be safe outside taking pictures today, so here's an abstract from inside, the view through a water bottle.

While visiting the contemporary art at the Weisman Art Center on the UMN campus, I spotted several bikes, in bike racks, with snow all around them. I wanted to do something to overcome the snow and lack of color of the MN winter. Thus...HOT COLORED BIKES. Enjoy.

Abstract B&W.....This image dissolves the boundary between object and abstraction.

What begins as organic matter transforms into a structural language......💙🙏
