I re-processed this image tonight as I received an order for a print and I've never been quite happy with the image. Until now, that is. Using some new post-processing techniques I was able to take this photo from 2005 and create the image I've always had in my head. The location is Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas, NV. It's one of the coolest (no pun intended) state parks I've visited anywhere. I can't wait to go back in 2011!

This image began life as a RAW file that was processed in Adobe Lightroom 3.3, exported to Photoshop CS5 as a TIFF and optimized using Nik Viveza 2, Color Efex Pro and Sharpener Pro.

Steps leading up to a doorway.

This is a Cubist villa designed by the French architect, Paul Sinoir in the 1930s. Yves St Laurent lived at the house from the early 1980s until his death.

The house was built in the Majorelle Garden, a two and half acre botanical garden and artist's landscape garden in Marrakech, Morocco. It was created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle.

The cover of Guillaume Apollinaire's 'Calligrammes', which I used for Macro Mondays 'printed word' challenge, became my starting point for a Monday morning abstract.
