Im Zentrum des Krematoriums steht ein Kuppelbau mit unregelmässig gefügtem, bossiertem Mauerwerk aus gelblichem Kalkstein. Das Bauwerk vereint romanische, byzantinische, ägyptische und dorische Formen, wodurch eine betont monumentale Wirkung entfaltet werden soll. Ein Portikus mit darüber liegendem Giebelfeld bildet die Hauptfassade und zugleich den Zugang zur offenen Vorhalle. Über diesem Baukörper erhebt sich eine achtseitige Gewölbekuppel mit Tambour, die ursprünglich als Kamin des Verbrennungsofens diente. Der Zugang zur Vorhalle erfolgt über eine Freitreppe, die von zwei Sphinxen flankiert wird. Dunkelblaue eisenbeschlagene Türflügel führen in die Abdankungshalle. Den Kuppelbau umschliessen auf winkelförmigem Grundriss zwei Seitenflügel. Die dadurch gebildeten Hofräume dienen als Kolumbarien für die Aufnahme der Urnengräber.

Aarau is a small town with a beautiful old town - about 15 km from where I live. In contrast to when I was young, today there are chairs and tables from countless pubs and restaurants on the sidewalks and streets. This was made possible after most cars were banned from the city center. I think that's a good development.

For those interested in old cameras

I had my good old Isolette with the beautiful Agfa Apotar lens with me. It has a focal length of 85mm and a speed of 1:4.5. Since the rangefinder is stuck and can no longer be rotated, I measure the distance with an external rangefinder from Zeiss - cool thing!! I also use my external exposure meter from Minolta for measuring the light.
