Just a couple of weeks after Netto closed in Rye Lane, Peckham, a newly refurbished Asda Supermarket opens to the delight of baying crowds gathered outside.

And Lidl could learn a thing or three here! Their Peckham branch closed for over a month for extensive refurbishments. And when it re-opened, they'd merely painted the walls and stuck a mini bread oven where the Ovaltine used to live. Same freezers, same tills, same layout, same everything. If that refurbishment were a Hollywood blockbuster, it'd be a turkey for sure!
Not one but three mobility scooters were present when the doors of the new Asda in Peckham flew open and the screaming hordes piled in for bargains galore.
I'll miss the twice-weekly Netto bargains.
The internet told me Asda was open at 10. It's half 10 and it's not open. Looks like lots of people are willing to wait an extra half hour. Not me. KMT.

As well as a popular fly-tipping area, Soho Street also appears to be a supermarket trolley breaker's yard. There were other Asda trolleys with all wheels sawn off. The surviving wheels on these two appear to be fitted with a device to prevent the trolley being wheeled away; I can inform Asda, it doesn't work. At least in Cwmbran trolleys are just abandoned, not usually mutilated.
