The southern Andes near the border between Argentina and Chile, featuring glaciers and steep glacier-carved valleys
This meadow in the Andean highlands is located just outside of the Cumbe Mayo arachaeological complex. The city of Cajamarca is located in the valley below.
The Complejo Arqueológico de Cumbe Mayo is located about 20 km Southwest of Cajamarca at an altitude of about 3500 meters (11,500 feet). The archaeological features are embedded in a volcanic rock landscape. The main archaeological feature is an aqueduct or canal built by a pre-Inca society about 1500 BCE--which makes it one of the oldest archaeological sites in the Andes. A number of petroglyphs were found along the canals.

Tarma is a city in the Andes mountains of central Peru. The neoclassical Cathedral of Santa Ana de Tarma sits on the central square, Plaza de Armas. North of the city, the Lord of Muruhuay Sanctuary is a hillside church containing a sacred image of Christ. Northwest is the colossal, stalactite-filled Huagapo Grotto. Tarmatambo, south of the city, is a former Inca administrative center with mud and stone ruins.

This image taken from the International Space Station (Yes, from space!) using Starizona’s Hyperstar lens at F/2 shooting back at Earth. Attached to a Canon 7D and a Celestron 9.25” Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Starizona has been fortunate to work with NASA to bring this project together. Starizona has had two successful equipment launches to the ISS. First by Japanese space agency, JAXA, and secondly by Space-X.

National Route A006 (Argentina)
National Route A006 is a gravel road of 8.5 km (5.3 mi) connecting the town of Las Cuevas on the nortwhest of the province of Mendoza with the Christ the Redeemer monument in the border between Argentina and Chile. This road is only open in the summer season. It is always important to inquire in the cities of Mendoza or Uspallata on the road conditions as it could be impassable at times. In it winding length it changes altitude from 3,151 m (10,338 ft) to 3,832 m (12,572 ft).
Before the construction of the Cristo Redentor Tunnel, the road was the only border crossing between the two countries in this area.
