I really like the fine vermiculation pattern on the back and side pocket feathers.

A Pintail convention.
From April, 2022. I didn't even bother to finish processing this image. It was dark and noisy, and I couldn't make it presentable then. The new Camera Raw tools are great.
Pintails are the first migratory duck to arrive on the central prairies. They usually get here before the ice has melted from the sloughs. This is the the first time I photographed a large number on the ice.
There are two male Green-winged Teals on the upper right of the photo, and two female Green-winged Teals closer to the center in the middle.

The Garganey (Anas querquedula) is a small dabbling duck. It breeds in much of Europe and western Asia, but is strictly migratory, with the entire population moving to southern Africa, India (in particular Santragachi), and Australasia in winter, where large flocks can occur. This species was first described by Linnaeus in 1758 under its current scientific name. Like other small ducks such as the common teal, this species rises easily from the water with a fast twisting wader-like flight.
Their breeding habitat is grassland adjacent to shallow marshes and steppe lakes.

This is the end of Sv. Ana valley, finishing with the Ljubelj / Loibl Pass. Actually, the creek of Mošenik has its source in the valley below my stand point. Sta. Anna church stands on the sunlit meadow, there the road tunnel enters the main ridge of Karawanks mountains. On the left is the E summit of Begunjščica, right of it are the slopes towards Zelenica meadow, Behind are the towers of Ljubeljščica and Na Možeh.

Beautiful feathers.
I have been spending a lot of time lately trying to get shots of preening ducks. I was hoping to get the exposed dorsal view of this wing at the right light angle. When their attention is on the enderside of a wing, they lift the scapular feathers and extend the opposte side of the wing to get down undeneath it.

The Eurasian teal (Anas crecca), common teal, or Eurasian green-winged teal is a common and widespread duck which breeds in temperate Eurosiberia and migrates south in winter. The Eurasian teal is often called simply the teal due to being the only one of these small dabbling ducks in much of its range. The bird gives its name to the blue-green colour teal.
It is a highly gregarious duck outside the breeding season and can form large flocks. It is commonly found in sheltered wetlands and feeds on seeds and aquatic invertebrates.
