A pair of former LMX lease GE's has been put to use on the last remaining operating Ohio Central coaltrain set. The 8530 and 8511 are on the east end of the train, and led the Empty Cadiz coaltrain (ECD) east from Coshocton to Cadiz Jct on the evening of August 14, 2017. This view is from the Route 151 overpass between Scio and Jewett. Continuous welded rail has begun being laid across the entire 13-mile joint line from Bowerston to Jewett.
This 54-car train runs to Cadiz on Mondays and Wednesdays, and down to Burr Oak on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All of the coal goes to the AEP plant in Coshocton, where the cars are unloaded by an overhead backhoe.

The bank of the river at Lawrenceburg, Indiana, is a mess. Located upriver from the demolished AEP Tanners Creek Power Station. The huge cylindrical piers were used to tie off the barges loaded with coal and lime. Attempts to market the 725 acre generator site have not been successful. Arsenic, boron and lead has contaminated the soil and groundwater to a 40' depth. Remediation will take years and cost many millions of dollars. When the plant began generating in the early 1950's it was called the 2nd cleanest coal fired power plant in the U.S.

Another beautiful design I had the pleasure to testfold for Eric Vigier.

Well I was very nervous about sending the drone over the power plant. In fact I had to use the Return to Home feature because I lost the drone up in the air. Talk about scary. If this weren't bad enough, the app warned me of a low battery. I'm sure this was due to the low temperature. I'll think twice in the future; NOT.... Pretty cool place that I can hardly wait to try again once temperatures warm.
