Udaipur pronunciation (help·info) (Rajasthani: उदैपर) (उदयपुर), also known as the City of Lakes, is a city, a Municipal Council and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is located 403 kilometres (250 mi) southwest of the state capital, Jaipur, 248 kilometres (154 mi) west of Kota, and 250 kilometres (155 mi) northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. The city is renowned for having the longest ruling dynasty in the world. The Royal House of Udaipur has had one family ruling since 600 AD to the present, making it the longest ruling dynasty whose descendants still retain their position.
Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the "Venice of the East", "The city of Romance" and is also nicknamed the "Lake City".[2][3] Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are considered some of the most beautiful lakes in the state.
Local bazaar in Peshawar, Pakistan. It was about 110 degrees this day and I managed to pick up a vicious stomach bug and was bed ridden for 24 hours. Luckily they have wonderful satallite tv in Pakistan and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was on - not the most educational way to spend a day when traveling the world but I sure enjoyed myself.

A day spent at the Siem Reap countryside. Our first stop was this marketplace, to buy ingredients for lunch. The dishes we prepared tasted very much like home, like Filipino food.

Maria Matos, president and CEO of the Latin American Community Center, welcomed the state’s kickoff of Delaware’s health insurance marketplace. Matos said the Wilmington center serves many families who don’t have insurance or who are afraid of losing it. “The cost of private family coverage equals almost two weeks’ of take-home pay,” she said. DHSS Secretary Rita Landgraf, who met last week with the State Hispanic Commission to enlist their support in getting out the message of the marketplace, said about 22 percent of uninsured Delawareans are Latino. “That is one of the reasons we are gathered here at the Latin American Community Center – and why we are asking important partners like the LACC to help us get out the word,” Landgraf said. Many marketplace materials and ads will be in English and Spanish, the state’s website, www.ChooseHealthDE.com , is available in both languages, the state will have bilingual marketplace guides, and the 24/7 Federal Call Center – (800) 318-2596 -- is ready to answer questions in 150 languages, Landgraf said.
Farmers Markets are full of life, visual richness and variety, and diversity. I feel at home no matter what city, state, or country. This man, could easily have been far from where I found him, in Rochester,NY .
Built in the 1530s, this mosque often has the imam (local Muslim priest) sing the call to prayer from the minaret.
