A little while ago it was father's day in Oz and I went up the mountains to visit me pa with my youngest brother. Dad lives in Blackheath, on the far side of the Blue Mountains from Sydney and after he'd picked us up from the train station we drove down into the Megalong Valley. More on the Megalong another time, this shot was a sneaky one whilst we were driving down into the valley and for some reason it is where my mood is tonight. I've posted one shot already tonight and deleted it and almost posted another three or four, so apparently I'm in an indecisive mood, so I'm going with my whim and this is it.
And I've started a tumblr and would appreciate anyone who is interested checking it out! Here's the link as I can't figure out how to hyperlink from this space. sydneystreetphotography.tumblr.com

Something is off-kilter with Flickr's statistic-counter. I posted this image in March 2016. By late 2022, the daily stats counter was indicating just over 1,000 views (and 5 faves). But, in early 2023, the count had jumped to more than 7,000 views (still with only 5 faves): an improbable increase, even with pixie-dust.

The big story towards the end of October was the Hyperlink vehicles on the 72, the livery is certainly an improvement on the previous ftr colours but that's about all i can see positive about the move. The seating capacity has been drastically cut from previous deckers and the road space per vehicle has been increased in length. Granted the frequency has increased from every 10 to every 7 minutes but anyone observing these vehicles will note their tendency to bunch. leaving wide gaps in service. Wifi is a step in the right direction but on the wrong service, most passengers on the service are local journey hops into Leeds or Bradford from the middles of the route. Wifi is more accustomed to interurban services where people spend longer than 30 minutes on the bus. Anyone travelling between the two cities here usually opt for the train or the X6 so its fitting is questionable on these vehicles. Even the name "Hyperlink".....whats that meant to mean ? must be the future...i mean ftr...remember that ?

Feeding Buffalo on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway in Baker County Oregon.
Got to spend Sunday morning with the folks at Oregon Trail Bison Ranch near the town of Halfway, feeding buffalo. What a fun way to start a Sunday along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway
Hells Canyon Scenic Byway is a loop that encircles the Wallowa Mountains, intersecting with Interstate 84 at Baker City and La Grande. They byway runs through some of North Oregon’s most rugged and majestic landscapes including a few surprises like this Buffalo Ranch near the small town of Halfway in Baker County.
The entire route is on a paved highway. Plan ahead - you'll find stretches of more than eighty miles without gas and with few services. A segment of the Byway between Joseph and Halfway closes with snow in winter, but allows access to winter recreation areas, offering a whole other kind of Northeast Oregon Adventure.
Hwy 86 between Baker City and the Hells Canyon Dam at the bottom of the canyon is open year round providing visitors access to the deepest river gorge in North America.
Spring and early summer is one of our favorite times to visit the byway and enjoy the abundant wildlife wild flowers, and ever changing scenery

From jstforewe (etsy). I used it to make my first official skein of yarn! I also blogged about it...(yup, taking my goals seriously ;)).
(anyone...how can I just write down 'blogged' and make a hyperlink of that word to my blog? -> Thank you Brenda! :D)

Seen Passing at Bramley Town End. They Look amazing but the novelty stops there. Some passengers were complaining about the slow progression and the ride quality. I had to agree, I was going from Leeds to Bradford but by Bramley I had enough and returned to Leeds. Maybe the service will improve over time. Free wifi would not be enough to tempt me to use this service with these buses.

update june 2008 - per the pew internet The Internet and Consumer Choice report - i can't believe that only 12% of cell phones are procured online. seems like it should be a lot more than that. 78% in-store and ~10% by other means.
miss love and i just went in together on a cell plan c/o amazon.com.
let the address-book transfers begin! since i have them resurrected to enter numbers into the new phone, here are all of the cell phones i've ever owned. they all still work, albeit the buttons on the nokia 3560 in the middle have stopped working reliably. the sony-ericsson w810i (right) is a linux-friendly phone, 2-megapixel camera, and mp3 player all in one. with a 4gb pro duo memory stick, i can go jogging without my minidisc player :-), and even bring home a few photos every now and then! rachel opted for a pink razr phone.
SAR ratings for these phones:
Nokia 6185: 1.07 watts/kg digital, 1.53 watts/kg analog
Nokia 3560 0.85 watts/kg digital, 1.24 watts/kg analog
SE W800i 0.57 watts/kg digital, no analog

tells us:
"In 1925, the Southern Railway ordered six narrow-bodied Pullman carriages from the Pullman Car Company. All vehicles of this batch were First Class Kitchen cars, and were destined for the Hastings route via Tunbridge Wells Central, a line well known for its narrow tunnels and restrictive clearances. Construction was subcontracted to the Metropolitan Cammell Carriage, Wagon & Finance Company of Birmingham, but production of the elaborate internal marquetry and decoration was the responsibility of Messrs A. Dunn & Son of Chelmsford, Essex. All vehicles of this batch were completed in January 1926."
"Theodora" has a complex history and it is explained in depth in the Kent Rail article (see above link).

This very clean, finely appointed ‘33’ Chrysler Series CO-6 made an excellent showing at the 2012 Salisbury House Concours d’Elegance in Des Moines, Iowa. I am very please to have a picture of this fine classic car in my photo archive of classic, antique cars.
By 1933 the Great Depression had a full grip on the luxury car market. Chrysler was able to sell only 151 cars in its top-of-the-line CL series. Understandably, for 1933, Chrysler's cars powered by six-cylinder engines proved to be their best-selling models. The CO Series accounted for over half of Chrysler's production with 17,865 vehicles produced. Body styles included a business coupe, sedan, 7-passenger sedan, convertible sedan, brougham, roadster coupe, and a convertible coupe. Pricing ranged from $750 - $950.
The L-head six-cylinder engine displaced 234 cubic-inches and offered 83 horsepower. In the front were large streamlined fenders that dipped lower in the front. There was a cowless hood with door type ventilators, 'suicide' rear hinged doors, slanting V-type windshields, sloping V-type radiators, single bar bumpers, and slanted door openings. They came standard with hydraulic brakes, Delco Remy ignition, automatic vacuum clutch, freewheeling, silent helical gear transmission, and a new coincidental starter/accelerator pedal. Six wire wheels were standard on the convertible sedans.

A mix of a Request from MBD and a What If?...
The request part is of an Enviro400 MMC in First Olympia livery with local Leeds fleetnames, however I have decided to brand the service which leads me onto the What If?... bit. What if First ordered some of these fine vehicles to replace the Streetcars currently deployed on Hyperlink 72 between Leeds & Bradford. I chose this livery as it would complement the vehicle and the route being blue-based now so wouldnt be too confusing for any customers. One more plus side, it would be able to serve Leeds City Bus Station again! Happy First, Happy Customers and Happy Enthusiasts! win win win.
