In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth and all things. A vibrant new world was born. Everything created by God was perfect and beautiful. It displayed His wisdom, goodness, and almightiness. God made Adam and Eve in His own image with His own hands, and breathed His very life into them. Jehovah God placed them in the Garden of Eden …

I had several small clusters of these purple crocuses, but a freeze killed most of them. I'm happy this one survived.
You can't help but notice my Flickr avatar. These crocuses in my front yard are what I first photographed with my first digital camera, the Canon PowerShot S2, which took remarkably sharp macro photos. I've kept the avatar as a reminder that my life on social media began in 2005 when I shared my first photo here.

Introduction
English Christian Movie | Do You Know the Mystery of the Name of God | "God's Name Has Changed?!"
Her name is Wang Hua, and she is a house church preacher in Southern China. After she began to believe in the Lord, she found in the Bible that God was called Jehovah in the Old Testament, and was called Jesus in the New Testament. Why does God have different names? Wang Hua was extremely puzzled about this. She tried to find the answer inthe Bible , but failed to grasp the mystery…. But she firmly believed that there is none other name under heaven given among men, so Jesus alone is the Savior, and that so long as we held on to the name of Jesus, we would surely be raptured into the kingdom of heaven. Yet one day, Wang Hua heard some shocking news: God's name has changed! After that, her heart could no longer remain calm …

Am I obsessive about Megaliths and Prehistoric History? Yes. History of the Prehistoric is still being written. We may yet be back there again, for now we still use the roads that they gave to us. They built in a landscape with more options. They knew how to travel by land, river and sea. They found the best ways along fertile valleys. When we advanced in metal working and fortifications and in town and city and industrial life where we did not erase their markers we still built our roads to them. Their mounds and orthostats stood tall and we used them as navigation elements on our journeys. In Brittany just before the new roads came along with the modernising of the industrial lifestyle and over land communication potential, just before the roads were struck into the ground there are great records of the huge stones structures. Artist sent to quaint Brittany for the sea air and the superb rural lifestyle made great records of the large roadside ancient monuments. Then the road builders came along and used these piles of stones for the roads. The once proud hills of picked river stones were cast under the foot of man, the hoof of horse and the wheel of cart all within the new road. The central huge stones were left as Dolmens and yet some of the largest are still there. Atop the Carnac Tumulus stands the Chapel of Mont Saint-Michel and a cart track runs up to the building and the noted cross set on top. Wikipedia states of the Saint-Michel tumulus “a mound of earth and stones 125 metres (410 ft) long, 50 metres (160 ft) wide and 10 metres (33 ft) high.[1] [Hyperlink here and below also. The site linked has a different measurement listed as of today 1. 11. 2023.]
1 of 4 is made of two of the four pictures. One picture is just itself and two are themselves and also parts of the panorama. The ways we make and maintain past the stones if difficult to fathom at times. The stones either side of the road are not alone there are other site where modern roads go between the stones and sometimes where the road goes over the centre of the ancient monument. Some are too big to drive a road through so roundabouts, rotaries, gyratories and also circuits with houses built just on the far side of the stone circle such contemporary roads are constructed around Prehistoric sites.

Introduction
Many people of faith in religious circles believe what the pastors and elders say, "All of God's words and work are in the Bible . It would be impossible for any of God's words to appear outside of the Bible." Is there a biblical foundation for this claim, though? Did Lord Jesus say these words? In Revelation, it is prophesied many times, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." The words of the Lord say it so clearly: When the Lord returns in the last days, He will speak again. In the matter of welcoming the coming of the Lord, if we don't depart from the Bible and seek what the Spirit says to the churches, will we be able to welcome the Lord?

. . . I would imagine lots of people go to the beach to think and try to sort life out in their heads! But with a sunset like this, photographers get distracted, and can only think of one thing, getting the best shot they have ever taken!
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!
If I managed to pull this off, this should appear to be a fine picture of a cool looking retro diner with a 1952 Chevy 3100 step-side pickup rolling past. Well folks it is that but it is also a composite image. My friend, Bob Brand (rbb32) graciously sent me his excellent picture of this cool diner and basically told me, “have a go at it”, in my mind, meaning he was giving me free artistic liberties with his fine picture. Bob’s (Robert Brand) original picture can be viewed here.
You will note that Bob had cropped the picture he posted on flickr but graciously sent me his un-cropped version – allowing me to place a vehicle on the roadway in the foreground.
Now with respect to the fine looking ‘52’ Chevy pickup, I guess you could say I basically purloined this from the photostream of a gentleman using the screen name of; RudeDude2140a. Well maybe “purloined” is too strong a word because, #1 - I am not using his picture for any financial gain and #2 – I did ‘just’ send this gentleman a flickrmail asking his permission to use his excellent picture. And I did hear back from Steven (RudDude2140a) and he expressed his appreciation of my having selected his fine picture for this composite. Also it seemed he was pleased with the fact I took his pickup in the spray booth and gave it a whole new paint scheme. He very graciously offered me use any of his pictures
RudeDude2140a’s original picture can be viewed her (I think! – lately hyperlink have not been working for me for some strange reason) - flic.kr/p/BmKCYU
Initially, it was my intent to try something “spooky” with this (these) pictures – like trying a watercolor or pen & ink effect but after laboring over this and realizing what excellent pictures these are (not taken by me – that’s why they are great), I wisely decided not to muck around with fine quality material and merely added a little more “sparkle” to the scene.
Hope you’all enjoy..........
Our snow was a very pretty one, and a moderately convenient one, falling on a weekend and all. The main roads were pretty much clear by this afternoon, and many of the smaller roads were passable-ish. Even with the sun breaking out this afternoon, the snow stayed on the trees and looked beautiful and pristine.
Alex and I ran some errands and went out for lunch, and before going home, stopped at the state arboretum to see what there was to see. One of the things I most love about living so close to the arboretum is becoming friendly and familiar with it, and seeing all these friendly and familiar features - trees, mainly - in all seasons, in all sorts of light.
I've shot this tree before, right after a snow: flic.kr/p/QVfNmJ Sorry, I can't remember how to make a pretty hyperlink in Flickr. I think I like the first snow-and-bent-tree picture better than today's, but I like today's, too.
The day was actually pretty pleasant for all the snow around. It wasn't warm by any stretch of the imagination, but for a January day, it wasn't too terribly cold. No wind, despite the bowed appearance of this tree. It just grows that way, I think to lend a greater sense of cold for photographers like me who happen by the arboretum not long after a snowfall. What a pal!

BB-8 (Ver. 2)
It's been a couple months since web seen The Force Awakens and Taka and I decided to update his BB-8 model. But since he's studying for a year over in the UK and I'm holding his models for LUG events and such, we coordinated our efforts to modify BB-8's body to make him more screen-accurate.
Throughout this description I've added hyperlinks to my Twitterthat chronicled the entire update process with plenty of photos. It's definitely worth checking out!
The first challenge was to map out all six tool bay disks on BB-8's spherical body, noting the order, orientation, shapes, and details such as LEDs.
The next challenge was to carefully remove the original sections off of Taka's model and replace them with the movie-accurate updated portions that I designed and built. I screwed up once but the problem was quickly resolved. Once that was completed (which I feel was overall the most difficult part of this project), I strengthened the two hemispheres that made up BB-8's body by adding an internal color-coded beam-and-slot system. Overall, BB-8 became very rigid and sturdy.
The third challenge was the head. The original head was too small in proportion to the body so I built a second larger head that was two studs wider in diameter. I reverse engineered Taka's brick-built dome technique and adjusted some finer details like the eye size, orange markings, and antenna colors.
Another neat thing I did with the head was the neck scheme. In Taka's original model, the head was simply attached by a 2x2 revolving plate. This made it very cumbersome to pose BB-8's body at an angle whilst balancing his head on top. So I devised a scheme using a large tire placed inside his head at the base of the neck to act as a frictional grip. The head is no longer attached to the body and yet it can rest steadily in most angled positions.
The fourth and final challenge was to add other fun details like the sliding drawer used to hide the map to Luke Skywalker and BB-8's signature thumbs-up arm. It wasn't hard to make these attachments but I am honestly not 100% satisfied with the thumbs-up part because the panel that flips open should reveal a more mechanical interior than it does. Someday I'll get around to making that, I guess.

Ploesti, Romania, August 1, 1943
"Hell's Wench," a B-24 badly damaged by anti-aircraft artillery fire, led the 93rd Bombardment Group (Heavy) in its daring low-level attack on the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, which supplied two-thirds of Germany's petroleum production at that stage of World War II. Lt. Col. Addison E. Baker, an Ohio National Guardsman who commanded the 93rd, ignored the fact he was flying over terrain suitable for safe landing. He refused to break up the lead formation by landing, and led his group to the target upon which he dropped his bombs with devastating effect. Then he left the formation, but his valiant attempts to gain enough altitude for the crew to escape by parachute failed and the aircraft crashed. For their gallant leadership and extraordinary flying skill, both Baker and his pilot, Maj. John L. Jerstad, received the Medal of Honor, posthumously. The raid, nicknamed "Operation Tidalwave," was costly, with 54 of the 177 bombers lost and 532 of the 1,726 personnel engaged listed as dead, missing or interned. Baker's service epitomized the role of National Guard aviators during World War II. Because of their experience, most of them were transferred from their 29 pre-war observation squadrons after mobilization. As individuals, they helped train and lead the huge numbers of volunteer airmen who served in Army Air Force units during the war. Baker and other Guard aviators carried on a long tradition of dedicated service to the states and nation.

Additional information - Operation Tidal Wave
Operation Tidal Wave was an air attack by bombers of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) based in Libya and Southern Italy on nine oil refineries around Ploiești, Romania on 1 August 1943, during World War II. It was a strategic bombing mission and part of the "oil campaign" to deny petroleum-based fuel to the Axis powers. The mission resulted in "no curtailment of overall product output.“
This mission was one of the costliest for the USAAF in the European Theater, with 53 aircraft and 660 air crewmen lost. It was proportionally the most costly major Allied air raid of the war, and its date was later referred to as "Black Sunday". Five Medals of Honor and 56 Distinguished Service Crosses along with numerous others awards went to Operation Tidal Wave crew members. A 1999 research report prepared for the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama concluded that the mission to Ploiești was "one of the bloodiest (and poorly planned) [editor] and most heroic missions of all time.”
The Ninth Air Force (98th and 376th Bombardment Groups) was responsible for the overall conduct of the raid, and the partially formed Eighth Air Force provided three additional bomb groups (44th, 93rd, and 389th). All the bombers employed were B-24 Liberators.
Colonel Jacob E. Smart planned the operation, based on HALPRO's experiences. HALPRO had encountered minimal air defenses in its raid, so the planners decided Tidal Wave would be executed by day, and that the attacking bombers would approach at low altitude to avoid detection by German radar.[citation needed] Training included extensive review of detailed sand table models, practice raids over a mock-up of the target in the Libyan desert and practical exercises over a number of secondary targets in July to prove the
viability of such a low-level strike. The bombers to be used were re-equipped with bomb-bay fuel tanks to increase their fuel capacity to 3,100 gallons.
Ed. Note: Despite the seemingly intensive planning described above, it should be noted that there was little to no air reconnaissance of German and Romanian ‘ground-to-air’ defenses in and around the Ploesti and surrounding areas. A tragic mistake.
The operation was to consist of 178 bombers with a total of 1,751 aircrew, one of the largest commitments of American heavy bombers and crewmen up to that time.
Given the large and unbalanced loss of aircraft and the limited damage to the targets, Operation Tidal Wave is considered a strategic failure of the American side.

Binarville, France, October 6, 1918
Only four Army Air Service aviators received the Medal of Honor during World War I, half of them for one of the most famous episodes of that terrible conflict -- the rescue of the famous "Lost Battalion." Second Lieutenant Erwin R. Bleckley, a field artilleryman from the Kansas National Guard, was an aerial observer attached to the Air Service's 50th Aero Squadron. Bleckley and other Guardsmen had volunteered as individuals for aviation duty during the war. He and other members of the 50th Aero Squadron had been assigned to locate and resupply the 1st Battalion, 308th Infantry, 77th Division. That "Lost Battalion" had been completely cut off and pinned down in a deep ravine by German forces on October 3, 1918, while advancing in the Argonne Forest as part of General John J. Pershing's Meuse-Argonne offensive with 600,000 troops of the American Expeditionary Force. Having failed to locate the "doughboys" on their first mission of the day, Bleckley and his pilot, First Lieutenant Harold E. Goettler, had volunteered for a second. Flying barely above the treetops and steep ravines, they drew intense enemy fire while making several passes over the area where they expected to find the American troops. German machine gunners fired down at the flyers from the ridges above their fragile aircraft, as well as from below it. Badly wounded and with their De Havilland aircraft severely damaged, with at least 40 bullet holes in it, they made a forced landing near a French outpost. Goettler was dead when the French troops reached him. Bleckley died before the French could evacuate him to a medical aid station. However, his notes from the mission narrowed the search area where the trapped soldiers might be found. Each aviator received the Medal of Honor, posthumously, for his courage and sacrifice. Their mission under- scored the critical importance of observation aviation to allied ground forces during World War I. Erwin Bleckley was the first of three National Guard aviators to receive the Medal of Honor during the twentieth century.

The Humber FWD Heavy Utility Car was a continuation of the *Super Snipe, using the same engine, but introducing 4x4 drive. In addition to being used as a GS (general service) truck, it was also used as an FFW (fitted for wireless) truck and an ambulance. The chassis of the Humber FWD was furthermore used for the Humber Light Reconnaissance Car.
www.tanksinworldwar2.com/uk-humber.php
The "Box" was the only 4x4 heavy utility car produced by the British in WWII. It was used as a staff and command car and had provisions for a folding map board behind the front two seats. The two rearmost passenger seats doubled as cargo space (folding up if needed) and were accessed by double doors at the rear. The other four seats were accessed by side doors. When used in Africa, some had the hard top replaced by a canvas type.
* The Humber Super Snipe is a car that was produced from 1938 to 1967 by the British-based Humber car company, part of the Rootes Group.
The Super Snipe was introduced in October 1938, derived by combining the four-litre inline six-cylinder engine from the larger Humber Pullman with the chassis and body of the Humber Snipe, normally powered by a three-litre engine. The result was a car of enhanced performance and a top speed of 79 mph (127 km/h) —fast for its day. Its design was contributed to by American engine genius Delmar "Barney" Roos who left a successful career at Studebaker to join Rootes in 1936. :p247
The Super Snipe was marketed to upper-middle-class managers, professional people and government officials. It was relatively low-priced for its large size and performance, and was similar to American cars in appearance and concept, and in providing value for money.
Within a year of introduction, World War II broke out in Europe but the car continued in production as a British military staff car, the Car, 4-seater, 4x2, while the same chassis was used for an armoured reconnaissance vehicle, the Humber Light Reconnaissance Car.

BB-8 (Ver.

Back in 2012, I commissioned Peter Moorman to create a 4” x 4” canvas miniature of Zoe Bear, which I shared with you at the time and which now appears below in the first comment. This time Peter crafted one for Molly, and I hope you love it as much as I do. If you do, perhaps you would consider asking him to make one for you, too.
It was painted on canvas, then varnished to protect it. It came with and resides on a plain wooden stand, but I wanted to present it to you framed in black. Peter lives in the Netherlands but has an Etsy page, and he ships all over the world. Peter was delightful to work with again, remaining quick to reply to e-mails and attentive to my comments as he worked through various sketches until he arrived at the one he knew I'd love, which so nicely captures Molly’s happy personality. In fact, this portrait is more realistic than most of his more whimsical, cartoon-like creations but more stylistic than Zoe Bear's because Molly's fur just lent itself to that treatment. Do check out his work (paintings, cards, prints, painted eggs, etc.) on Etsy and consider "Liking" his Facebook page.
