Minimalism is a very subjective concept in the art world ... The Webster dictionary defines it as " ... a style or technique that is characterized by extreme spareness and simplicity ... ".
Some love it, others hate it, but no one seems to be totally indifferent against the general idea that minimalism represents. Many artists thrive in the openness of the concept, others have a problem with the lack of definition and direction. Many of us are drawn to ‘less is more’ with simple lines, geometric patterns, strong shadows, contrasting colors, lone subjects, etc. For others, deciding what to leave out of the frame to make a stronger image is a difficult exercise.
In my personal opinion minimalistic approach to photography combines two technical things ... Frame tranquility (derived usually from long exposure softness results) and few items in sight, whose loneliness actually delineates and overemphasizes them, makes them more important ...

. . . The train ride from Anchorage to Seward was dramatic, to say the least! A traveler sitting next to me suggested this title because he has been to all of those places and noticed the similarity.
I hope to post some more, but the ship's incredibly slow internet is preventing me. Hopefully I can get some Verizon service while in some of the ports. Otherwise, I will have to wait until I get home . . .

Okay. I promised myself that my next upload would be colour (and preferably not involve my face) so when I saw the sunset I grabbed my camera and went.
The whole feather concept wasn't planned, I just picked them up as I ran out. The birds weren't either, ha, they're actually a shape I inadvertantly made with the feathers in an outtake and I noticed they looked like a bird so I used it.
Oh and I'm not graceful in any way so that pose was damn hard okay.
I'm not going to tell you that this is representative of how I want to fly away, because I'm actually far too cynical to be an artist.

. . . to the National Park System! This was my view of the tallest mountain in North America, Denali or as it used to be known Mt. McKinley, at 20,310 feet!
This was taken through the train window as we traveled from the national park south towards Anchorage. A thrill a minute!!

Remember this theme is deliciously dark! It's NOT about painted faces, costumes and the fun luster of Halloween. No! The Macabre Challenge is ghastly, horrific and artistically provocative imagery that resonates as well as disturbs the viewer. Your objective is to unnerve while simultaneously causing adoration and fondness for the beauty you've captured.

- Images uploaded prior to the announcement date of the Macabre Challenge will NOT be permitted.

Apologize for the long term updates over the past few weeks & holiday. With everything I do there is only so much time in the day to do them. Some of ya out there think that I'm a robot... Updates are done in my free time. I LUV doing them! But it again is in my Free time... which lately I don't have a lot of because there is LIFE beyond this digital world we live in.

This was taken back in December, before Moxie bit off some of Molly’s black dangles. I hope they’ll grow back. But to let that happen, if it will at all, I must carefully supervise their play. Moxie now outweighs Molly by two pounds (and there are a lot more pounds to come), and playing rough is his payback for when Molly harasses him when he doesn’t want to play. They don’t snuggle together, but they are amicable companions when they’re not tearing around the house, chasing each other. They are entertaining!

This marks my first time doing a collab picture with another photographer-- and an AMAZING one at that. June Starlight is a phenomenal artist with her work in Second Life photography, and was a delight to work with for this photo. In fact, it was her genius that spawned this pose! She also reverse engineered some technical goofery we ran into, and left me wide-eyed impressed! Am I obsessive about Megaliths and Prehistoric History? Yes. History of the Prehistoric is still being written. We may yet be back there again, for now we still use the roads that they gave to us. They built in a landscape with more options. They knew how to travel by land, river and sea. They found the best ways along fertile valleys. When we advanced in metal working and fortifications and in town and city and industrial life where we did not erase their markers we still built our roads to them. Their mounds and orthostats stood tall and we used them as navigation elements on our journeys. In Brittany just before the new roads came along with the modernising of the industrial lifestyle and over land communication potential, just before the roads were struck into the ground there are great records of the huge stones structures. Artist sent to quaint Brittany for the sea air and the superb rural lifestyle made great records of the large roadside ancient monuments. Then the road builders came along and used these piles of stones for the roads. The once proud hills of picked river stones were cast under the foot of man, the hoof of horse and the wheel of cart all within the new road. The central huge stones were left as Dolmens and yet some of the largest are still there. Atop the Carnac Tumulus stands the Chapel of Mont Saint-Michel and a cart track runs up to the building and the noted cross set on top. Wikipedia states of the Saint-Michel tumulus “a mound of earth and stones 125 metres (410 ft) long, 50 metres (160 ft) wide and 10 metres (33 ft) high.[1] [Hyperlink here and below also. The site linked has a different measurement listed as of today 1. 11. 2023.]
1 of 4 is made of two of the four pictures. One picture is just itself and two are themselves and also parts of the panorama. The ways we make and maintain past the stones if difficult to fathom at times. The stones either side of the road are not alone there are other site where modern roads go between the stones and sometimes where the road goes over the centre of the ancient monument. Some are too big to drive a road through so roundabouts, rotaries, gyratories and also circuits with houses built just on the far side of the stone circle such contemporary roads are constructed around Prehistoric sites.

I am pleased to announce the publication of "Inner Landscapes", my first book of photographic art, as well as, "Paysages intérieurs" the French version. These eBooks are offered free of charge.

Expressing visual emotions
My "Inner Landscapes" gathers digital images I created from photos taken during my travels on the roads of North America. These images are the fruit of my incessant dialogue with the world around us, with its forms, its colors, its light, its textures and the emotions it gives us to feel. There are the "visual emotions" I superimpose on my photos. It results in an improbable world, dreamed, imagined, that defies our traditional representations. Hence the title given to this book.

. . . On the boat from Seward to Glacier Bay, the scenery really blew my mind! These fjords are extremely deep (up to 2,000 feet) and the mountains around them take your breath away! Imagine slowly traveling around this bend and slowly revealing the next mountain!
I was able to post this one from the ship by closing down the ship's WIFI and using my phone outside on our patio as a hotspot! That's how I do the internet at my cabin as well! Very fast and reliable!

Today, One Billion Rising in Second Life invites YOU to rise with ONE voice in an important Campaign of unity, courage, perseverance and love. Through the eye of your lens, we encourage you to capture the spirit of this cause, either through the perspective of one suffering at the hands of or rising/overcoming the suffering to live again. This distinction is significant to the purpose of this Campaign and together your voices with resound aloud with each image received as:
I Rise! Is the heart, soul and foundation of the mass call to action of the One Billion Rising Revolutionary Campaign, founded on February 14, 2012. To best understand the significance of this monumental show of solidarity, the description below is via the website:
"One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) in human history. (The reality that): 1 in 3 women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. Every February, we rise – in countries across the world – to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face. We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable."
This declaration inspires survivors, as well as supporters to Rise and we invite YOU to take a stand TODAY, in the SL: One Billion Rising Campaign. We understand the sensitive nature of this Campaign and the impact these images may provoke. However, in perusing of the website, we're certain you'll be empowered by the images of celebration, the marches and most of all, the courage, love as well as staggering rally of humanity against injustice.
EVERYONE is welcomed to participate as the Second Life One Billion Rising is a 24 hour, Multi Sim Event featuring live music, Poetry, dancing 2D and 3D Art exhibits. Please read over the guidelines below and RISE with us in ONE voice on Sunday, February 14th!

- Photos must be NEW and to the Campaign themes:
Theme "Still I Rise": Images depicting the tragedy, emotional anguish, mental exhaustion, physical suffering and struggle against one's abuser.
Theme "I Rise": Images depicting the overcoming of one's abusers and vigorous strive to live again. The showing of rallying support for and received from a survivor.

- You may submit more than one image. Please note, best effort will be given to display as many images received in the OBR Curator Gallery by Karen Hitchinson (FB) | Kess Crystal (InWorld) & Lawrence Pryce | InWorld: LawrenceD
- You do not have to recreate any of the images within the Pinterest Gallery. Each are for your inspiration, however if you choose to recreate, you are most welcome to do so. If you have any questions regarding your image, please contact Lawrence for assistance.
- The composition of the image is open, however you must follow the theme of the Campaign. Feel free to choose between black/white, monochrome, full color, fading/weathered, sepia and etc.
- Images are to be captured in human Adult avatar form only.
