It was not the entrance to hell. It was an appareille with a wagon winch and mighty iron gates. Because of the extreme wide angle Laowa 9mm (FF) everything looks a bit smaller. In reality it was more than 10m high.

We were there just before Christmas. The exhibitors had hung decorative stars under the red illuminated ceiling. Gregorian music was played. There were very few visitors, we felt a bit like we were in heaven:).

A highly attractive adult Brown Tree Snake (Boiga irregularis) from the southern brigalow-belt in the inland of south-eastern Queensland. Showing the typical coiled posture adopted by the species upon feeling threatened.

Taken on a Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 DSLR coupled to a vintage M42 mount Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58 (Silver semi-automatic preset version with 10 blade aperture) from the 1950's. An M42 9mm extension tube incorporated. Shot hand-held @ 2.0 with reflected side-lighting utilized. Apart from RAW conversion and the most basic of edits, image taken as is. The swirling biotar bokeh is superbly expressed here.

I just love my Biotar..
