former Spitalgate School, Grantham. The Spitalgate National School was opened in the middle of the C19th, and was gradually expanded, the current buildings may date from 1896. It was damaged in the 2ndWW, but repaired and reopened as army units, the Girls returned in 1948, but it was not until 1956 that it became co-educational once more. Closed in 1977 when new premised in Trent Road were completed, the site became a vast indoor flea market known as the Old School Emporium, with Silver Apple Furniture and Gordon's Records amongst the many stallholders. Under the same ownership since the school closed, the site was put up for sale around the time of the COVID pandemic and the site will be redeveloped with just a small portion of the Victorian building remaining. Demolition began in July 2025.
