With her beautiful flowing mane blowing in the ocean breeze, this mare, one of a small band of three horses, grazes amongst the dunes. Together, the three horses seem to have staked out a claim for the beach camp grounds. They regularly raid the grounds at night, taking any supplies that might have been left unattended or poorly stored. Most of their activity occurs once campers have bedded down after dark. On occasion, they show up when campers are still awake and active. They have tossed more than one campsite, leaving it in shambles. Anticipation of these equine interactions is what makes camping here so wonderful and unique. #WildHorses #Assateague
