Yesterday our neighborhood celebrated the addition of new fire fighting equipment, including hoses and a new street hydrant. We all gathered to learn how to use it and to celebrate with lunch and a game of Bingo.

Certainly some of the strangest pieces of equipment on CSX were the RCPHG6s. The railroad converted four of these from retired C30-7s. I believe the idea was that by having 6 axles, they would provide more braking power? From what I can tell, they were usually assigned to the RC hump jobs at Stanley Yard in Toledo, or switching at Rougemere Yard in Detroit. They would occasionally wander elsewhere though, as evidenced by #9303 sitting outside the diesel shop in Grand Rapids with a GP38-2. Since the only jobs they would be able to work in GR would be the switching jobs that only ever switched the yard and no industries, they didn't seem to stick around for long. Grand Rapids seemed to be the shop CSX would send all of the drones in the region to for work. Like the rest of the drone fleet, the RCPHG6s were retired in the early 2010s.
