Legend has it that the mermaids collected lost treasure at the bottom of the ocean, weaving beautiful jewelry from "paste & sea foam" ~ and that even now grottos of underwater treasure hold centuries of beautiful trinkets from lost cities and ancient shipwrecks. Once a mermaid grew tired of her collected jewels, she would swim close to shore and toss them into shallow tidepools, for surface people to discover, returning the "borrowed" bounty to it's rightful owner.

These cute couple rings are crafted out of solid 925 sterling silver. They are hand stamped, soldered and mirror polished. Each ring has half a heart on the band, that when joined, will form a whole heart. The heart has two dainty swirls at the rounds, and looks complete on its own as well.

Allow me to wax lyrical and proffer philosophical thoughts for a wee moment.
In my mind's eye, Poe's poem describes the interpretation of the connection between life and dreams, and the relationship between perception and reality. As though a ponderous reflection of life and its temporary state. Having said that, the world is YOURS to interpret. Per John Locke’s theory, "Only I exist. I cannot prove you exist. I cannot see with your eyes." And consequently, this poem is YOURS to transcribe with your mind's eye.
In further pursuit of my personal grasp of this poem, I ask you this: what if you woke up one day to realize that you're living the same day over and over again? As though in a dream within a dream? How would it feel? How would it look? Would you still detect life's scents around you? Would your mind remain permeated by life's escapades or would a trance-like state take over?
And these, my friends, were the questions assaulting my brain as I created A Dream Within A Dream.
To capture the blurred lines between conscious and sub-conscious realms, I used:-

I have always been inspired by Virginia Oldoini but haven’t had the perfect design for her until today. Finding a design for her was a challenge and I think that I have perfectly portrays her beauty in these magnificent pair of earrings.

Horribly late for last week's theme challenge of Butterfly, my Madame Butterfly has finally broken out to flutter her wings.
Inspired by the famous opera of the same name by Puccini, I did quite a bit of research for this piece and ended up giving nods too to the Papilio Dehaanii, a butterfly extremely common in Japan, home of Cio-Cio San aka Madame Butterfly.
Moss Opal or Dendritic Opal - milky white to brownish Opal with dark-green moss, tree or fern-like inclusions (dendrites) of various silicates, hornblende or manganese oxides; shows no play of color. Dendritic Opals are excellent for getting in touch with the environment and for communicating with Nature spirits. They promote growth, both physically and spiritually, and can provide help when needed in entering relationships and group dynamics, allowing one to remain open and approachable in spite of bad experiences. Born at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna von Habsburg-Lothringen (known to history as Marie Antoinette), was born an Archduchess of Austria and later became Queen of France and Navarre. Directly inspired by a portrait of Marie Antoinette done up by Martin van Meytens in 1767-1768 when the lovely lady was a mere 12 years old, La Dauphine d'Viennois is the epitome of decadence.
Undoubtedly, the pièce de résistancehere would be that stunning Amethyst Stalactite Focal which measures 62mm long. Yes, you read it right. A 62mm slice of ravishing au naturel beauty.
Rich processions of clusters come next, showcasing combinations of Polished Pink Amethyst Briolettes with Rare Purple Garnet Briolettes and Brazilian Amethyst Briolettes. Adding volume within these are the tiniest Labradorite Rondelles (each measuring a wee 1.5mm on average) and over a hundred Silver Pearls with sprinklings of larger Prasiolite Rondelles for just a sliver of colour. Peeking through too are Polished Brazilian Amethyst Rounds with incredible baroque-esque vivacity coming from sporadic placements of brilliantly faceted Mystic Topaz Rounds. Every here and there, you'll see glimpses of Rare Grey Moonstone Nuggets.
Now, no Eclettica piece would be complete without a wire-wrapped bit, would it? :)
In La Dauphine d'Viennois, this element manifests itself within the pair of connectors linking everything together. These intricate components are completely 3D - in both sight and composition.
The first oval-shaped layer has been heavily oxidised to be consistent with the overall look and feel. Atop this, a second layer of swirls and curls has been added but, for a change, left unoxidised for maximum visual impact. The third and final layer is a tad different, i.e., layers of chains criss-crossing from one end of each connector to the other, thus mimicking Marie Antoinette's (unseen) corset strings (ahem) and embellished with final touches of more Polished Brazilian Amethyst Rounds.
Closure is kept sleek and chic with a generously-sized Lobster Claw Clasp featuring a final Polished Pink Amethyst Briolette as well as plush Labradorite Briolette as dangly charms.

When I first began wrestling with wires in November 2007 (read: wire-wrapping), my first piece was a pair of asymmetrical earrings. Not by choice but borne out of necessity because I simply couldn't make both sides identical. Yes, my eyes were rolling then too, amidst some massive hair-pulling and wire smashing, I admit. After that, I started making more asymmetrical earrings because they were just so much fun!
Now, after 6 months of playing ring-a-round-o-rosey with wires and pliers, it appears I've come back full circle with these uneven babies :) it seems fitting, yes?

"Black Magic Woman" is a song written by Peter Green that first appeared as a Fleetwood Mac single in various countries in 1968, subsequently appearing on the 1969 Fleetwood Mac compilation albums English Rose (US) and The Pious Bird of Good Omen (UK). It became a classic hit by Santana in 1970, reaching #4 in the U.S. charts, after appearing on their Abraxas album, becoming more closely associated with Santana than Fleetwood Mac. Santana's version, recorded in 1970, is a medley with Gabor Szabo's 1967 "Gypsy Queen," a mix of jazz, Hungarian folk and Latin rhythms.

This week, Charlotte of Emerald Dolphin Design challenged members of The Wire Artisans Guild with her chosen theme MAGIC. I readily admit to elaborate sketches but all my grandiose plans of a genie bottle as well as a magic mirror all went kaput! I just couldn't finish them on time LOL
So instead, I've concocted my own Black Magic Woman.

Hand-formed curvaceous Hoops (a la the curves of a gorgeous woman, but of course) are diligently wrapped with AAA Tanzanites featuring Rare Blue Labradorite Briolettes in their midst and magnificent Faceted Pearls as the centers. Just see those flashes!!!
Inspiration comes from odd places sometimes! I was putting together a supply order and noticed I had exactly 7 Sesame Jasper faceted arrows remaining. Like a slap up'side the head, the vision of this necklace came to me and I sat right down to make it.
The Burgundy-colored Swarovksi crystals aren't an obvious complimenting color to me, but I think they really work out in this piece.
It measures about 23" in length so will hang longer on most, and it's clasped with a sterling silver hook and loop closure.

Inspiration comes from odd places sometimes! I was putting together a supply order and noticed I had exactly 7 Sesame Jasper faceted arrows remaining. Like a slap up'side the head, the vision of this necklace came to me and I sat right down to make it.
The Burgundy-colored Swarovksi crystals aren't an obvious complimenting color to me, but I think they really work out in this piece.

Victorian / The Mermaid Tide
Collected Trinkets and Treasures
Legend has it that the mermaids collected lost treasure at the bottom of the ocean, weaving beautiful jewelry from "paste & sea foam" ~ and that even now grottos of underwater treasure hold centuries of beautiful trinkets from lost cities and ancient shipwrecks. Once a mermaid grew tired of her collected jewels, she would swim close to shore and toss them into shallow tidepools, for surface people to discover, returning the "borrowed" bounty to it's rightful owner.
Our beautiful mermaid bracelet is constructed of fine vintage jewelry, retrofitted into a magnificent charm infused bracelet.
The base of this offering from our local mermaid is a HEAVY, WW2 ID TAG - .925 Sterling Silver - MINT. Cleaned and polished to a high shine!

This is quite a unique earring that I have created up to date. It features a dramatic design that captures the essence of Middle Eastern jewelry. And the cool factor of this artistic pleasure is that it’s a *3-in-1* piece with removable and attachable danglers. So you can wear it in 3 styles; a vivacious hoop, a glamorous dangler and combining the two together that gives a dramatic look.
The hoop itself gives an alluring and stunning design, crafted in sterling silver 925 with luxurious compliments of the sauciest AA Chalcedony Fat Briolette, glimmering Gold Pyrite Faceted Rondelles and tiny Thai Sterling Silver Faceted beads. Notice how the capping of the purple chalcedony brings a 3D effect look, adding characteristic value into this design.
The second component is the umbrella-like danglers or as suggested by my dear friend seems to mimic the shape of a bird cage. :) Either one, I am very pleased with the result. It’s heavily embellished with swirl motive and skirts of lovely Luxe Tundra Sapphire Rondelles, most gorgeous shades ranging from a rich plum to andalusite type browns to grossular garnet greens and finally burnt paprika orange tones. The grandeur purple color dropping in the middle is the elegant Hydrothermal Quartz Faceted Pear Briolette, rich and fabulous.
I applied a tiny toggle on top of the glamorous danglers so that it can be unclasped and worn separately for subtle elegance. An FOC separate earring hooks (crafted by me) is provided so you can have fun with these beauties.
Measurements are as follows:-
a. Hoop ~ a dainty hoop with a 1.1” diameter
b. Danglers ~ dropping 2.5” from top of the earring hook
c. Both ~ dropping 2.9” from top of the hoop
