Any excuse for me to spend a little time at the station. Shirl had been to London for a few days with a pal and 91101 is seen arriving with her train, whilst Thunderbird 67028 awaits its next duty. The presence of 73961 completes the scene.

DB Cargo UK 67028 drags London Northeastern Railways (LNER) 'Flying Scotsman' DVT 82205 and 91101 past March West Junction working the diverted 5E02 1145 Peterborough to Ferme Park Recp. Due to a person being hit at Peterborough, the 225 set was taken out of service and ran empty back to Ferme park sidings.

Ticking off yet another 91 at Pilmoor Cottages.
Taken from Jobbing Cross Lane Bridge, 91101 Flying Scotsman flies past with 1N09, 14.33 Kings Cross to Newcastle. DVT 82213 on the rear.
Sadly I read that 91119 is unlikely to return to service, so that one will elude me here it seems.
Neville Hill are doing a great job of turning out these 91s and their sets in a spick and span condition, good to see.
The shadows are lengthening here, the rear of the train only just clearing the shadows. The train is also getting slightly backlit, so the location is possibly only on for a couple more weeks.

Na snímku je v dopoledních hodinách R 91100 zachycen na své trase přes Branický most, ještě ve své původní podobě před plánovanou rekonstrukcí.
91101 Flying Scotsman passes Creeton, working 1D23 17.03 King's Cross - Leeds. [Pole, 3/6 sections (~4m)]
I was filling in time between leaving work and going for 66501 on 4E56 at Werrington (again - but using a 50mm lens rather than 31mm, and, I hoped, focussing correctly), and went to try to find some locations for 91s north of Peterborough. I found the spot at Greatford, but it was a bit windy to use the pole at the necessary height, so came here for 1D23 - even though I'd done this angle before (and, I later discovered, with 91101!). However, that had been an hour earlier, before the sun had moved properly onto the front, and when I tried it on 1D23 the sun dipped.
Unfortunately, waiting around for 66501 was a waste of time: I didn't get a shot as I discovered the Werrington Diveunder was temporarily out of use and 4E56 used the old route where there isn't a clear view of the train.
Manipulation notes: Because it was windy, the pole was wobbling backwards and forwards a little, even at only 4 metres. The frame with the 91 in the optimum position had too much sky and not enough foreground. Cropping it to 16:9 format made it too much a shot of just the train, but I've added extra foreground (and cropped some of the sky) using parts of the last frame in the burst (after the 91 had run out of the frame).

91101 shares Kings Cross station London with Hitachi Azuma sets on the night of April the 6th 2025. Awaiting the off, it heads the 22:05 to York, the last Intercity train North on a Sunday night.

It would layover for 30 minutes before returning to the capital as 1A50.
91101 provides the rear end power for a service to England awaiting departure from Edinburgh, 14th March 2009.
Locomotive History
It was built Crewe works with electrical equipment supplied by GEC in 1988 and the design was derived from power cars of the ill-fated Advanced Passenger Train. The asymmetric body style is streamlined at one end to allow high speed operation with the fixed sets of Mark 4 coaches in normal push-pull passenger operation. In addition a second cab is incorporated into the 'blunt end' however when operating with the 'blunt end' leading the maximum speed of the locomotive is limited to 110mph due to aerodynamic stability. Originally numbered 91001 the whole class underwent a refit to improve reliability between 2000 and 2003 and were renumbered on individual completion from 910XX to 911XX.
