Yesterday I was ranting on my Twitter about Boy being a skinhead revivalist, and all the crap he gets from people who assume he's racist. Fascism was actually a tiny splinter minority element of skin culture, which was actually built on a mix of Mod and black reggae/ska/Rude Boy heritage. Here's my attempt at a neo-skinhead outfit...although I look more like an Offspring fan because of the Cons. I NEED a pair of DMs, I used to have heaps, what happened?!
Tartan jacket: The Rusty Zip Vintage Store, £8
Red "skaletto" shirt (Levis): thrifted and altered
Scarf: Lookah/the pash store, £1
Jeans: Dorothy Perkins (you can tell how old these are because they have those combat pockets that were so trendy in the early 2000s. They are full length, this is the first time I ever rolled them up and they have a new lease of life. Awesome!) I guess they were about £15.
Braces: Warrior. Stolen from Boy -- he got them in this AMAZING skinhead/Mod-devoted shop in Victoria, Canada. About $25 I think.
Fake Converses: Topman £19.99
Whoah, for me this is a pretty expensive outfit!
Ben, Duncan and Chris-a-riffic givin' er as everyone steps on stage belting out the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit"....
