It’s 8o’ clock in the morning in Jökulsárlón lake, at the head of Breiðamerkurjökull glacier in Iceland.
The dark sand of the volcanic beach, starred with a multitude of glittering icebergs, is bathed in the golden, flamy light of the sunrise.
The warm gleam of the aurora shimmers on the milky foam of the oceanic waves, irradiating colours that seem to fuse the rosiness of a garden in bloom with the warm, intense shades of the summer fruits.
It feels almost as if Nature has found its own poetic way of creating a springtime atmosphere in this remote corner of the planet, where the power of the elements can often be perceived in its strongest and harshest manifestations, and where the dominant colours that are more likely to paint the stirring landscape are the deep blue of the ocean and the lead-grey of the heavy clouds, threatening furious tempests.
Yet, despite of the algid breeze, the atmosphere in Jökulsárlón is surreally serene; almost mystical.
I venture among the icebergs, whose glimmering translucency make look like precious meteors, caressed by light and lulled by the waves...mysterious entities that evoke both loneliness and emotional connections, whose suggestive shapes have captivated artists’ fantasy and imagination.
The inspirational power of Jökulsárlón is almost palpable.
This unique scenery, gently unveiled by the rays of the dawn, may suggest endless allegorical meaning.
To me, it seems that the glittering icebergs stand out from the black sand as the most ecstatic moments of happiness and the most intense experiences on one’s life path.
They all seem to evoke a significant moment in time, an emotion, a sensation, a sentiment crystallized in one’s memory and surviving to the fluctuating rhythm of life, here represented by the perpetual crashing of the waves on the ice.
Serenity can be experience as a continuum, as a persistent state of mind and so can sadness, I believe.
But the moments which bear the deepest emotional power are, by definition, just isolated moments, instants, gleams of light or shivers of dark despair. Thus, the collection of photographs taken in this unforgettable location, have been created in the light of this allegorical key.
About "Light on ice":
The colours reflected on the iceberg made me think of that indefinable glow of delight that beautifies the smile of a person in love. The image symbolizes the warmth of Love, here represented by the radiance of the aurora’s rays that brings to life the magical iridescence of the lonely iceberg, just as Love discloses the most prodigious virtues hidden in one’s soul.
I thought of framing this imaginative encounter of light and ice, by recording the motion of the waves with a long exposure to reach the visual feel of a silky blanket of golden foam surrounding the iceberg.

So how on earth did the old fellah with rubbish sight manage to capture one of these flying speedsters - shouldn’t have a hope right? I’ll let you in on a secret, I borrowed Mrs Good Wife’s eyes - she spotted the beast and then began calling the numbers -
“…11 o’clock….3o’clock….8o’clock…2 o’clock….midnight….6….”
As you see, it is really my good Lady who captures the shot - I am just the clueless rascal with a camera, desperately trying to keep up with the bizarre game of whack-a-mole swishing hither and thither, rattling away like a monkey with a machine gun. The comical affair is complicated by my 20x magnifier which I push on to the back of the camera monitor with my eye, which in turn reduces the area of the screen that I can ‘view’ to about the size of a thumbnail. If I catch a blur of movement in that thumbnail - and let’s be honest, that’s all these zoomers afford you, a blur in and out, then we’re in with a shout. Fortunately, this one gave us plenty of opportunity.
So thank you and well captured Julie! As with most everything else in life, I couldn’t have done it without you my dear.
OK, so I HAD to try this. And YES, it is messy...
Not disappointed but not 100% happy. I seem to be having trouble with the light. My flash doesn't seem to be short enough, or if it is, then too powerful, and I am out of focus etc. :)
I had a Sunpak 522 flash on the left at 8o'clock, and one Sony HVL36 at 10 o'clock. a white foam board on the right side.
I will HAVE TO try this again, to get a better picture.
Oh, and dinner was raspberry with blueberry and strawberry in cream...
Thanks for my husband for helping me with securing the spoon and Oszkar (my dog) for cleaning up the cream from the tile, lol.
We had holidays. There were only two days left, till i would do my two-daytrip to london, when a friend called me. He said that the Koenigsegg arrived in frankfurt. I hadn`t got any time to spot the car on the same day. I was already sad, because i thought, i missed it the second time. at the next day, i woke up at half past six in the morning. i took my bike and arrived at 8o`clock at t´he hotel, where the owner lived. And then.... BAAM !!! :) thanks for the editing which was made by Sven K.

8o'clock, in a foreign house, in the middle of the beauty of Northern Ireland. I wanted to know if there was a good light to go out and take some photographs and, when I glanced at the corridor I realised that maybe the answer would be something like ...YES, OF COURSE! HURRY UP!!! PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON AND GO!!!! ;-)

The building was close to the sea but the normal beach was 1kilometer away.
This picture is just taken for fun :) . The leg of the ‘gost’ was PSed by me on PC.

Fairy cave. Sarawak, Malaysia.
I was really fascinated by the plants in the cave that illuminated by the sunlight from the entrance.
This cave is quite big. If you see carefully at the cave's position of 8o' clock, there is peoples standing on the platform.

we've got that french song: il est 5 heures paris s'éveille ( it' 5 o'clock in the morning, and paris does wake up) (by jacques dutronc, late 60's i guess)
sometimes when i know i won't sleep no more before morning, i have myself a "5 heures paris s'éveille" walk.
this is the first one with a camera, and it helped me to enjoy.
then a coffee when first bar opened on my way, then the first baker's store.. . .
there's a nice flute melody, in the original song, and i often have flute in mind while walking.
i use to get back home about 8o'clock

Went back today to check on the baby eagles. This is the only shot they gave me to get all three of them. I have been told there we three but all the times I have been up there I only saw two. They are really big I would say right now their wing span is close to 5 feet, they were in the nest testing their wings and I couldn't believe how big a wing span they have right now. I'm sure by next week they will be branching and not long after that they will be gone. I also found out that the male and the female will leave the babies alone for quite some time now only to come back to feed them or to defend them. We had a couple of opportunities when we got there this morning to get some good shots of the male and female comming into feed the babies. We got their around 7:30am (after leaving Renoldsburg at 4am) and around 8o'clock the male came in with a fish but he suprised us and we didn't get a shot, then around 8:35 the female came in with what we think was either a snake or an eel from the nearby Pine Lake again we missed that shot. that really bummed me out but the male and female are slick and when they come in they come in low and fast, and you have to be ready at all times or you'll miss them. The male or the female was not seen the rest of the morning leaving the babies alone the whole time, the only time one of them came back was to defend them from a Coopers Hawk that was flying around the nest.
The foal, a female, was born at 8o'clock this morning. (13 May)
