"What are feelings?" asked Gus.
"They are a memory imprinted on the heart that when visited makes your body feel light or heavy," explained Dylan.
"So, are they good or bad?"
"Neither. Feelings are just experiences."
"But I often hear adults say that they feel bad and sometimes, a lot less often, they say they feel good."
"I think that's something that happens when people get older. They learn it along the way."
"Do you feel that way?" asked Gus.
"No. It hasn't happened to me yet."
"Is it something we should watch out for so we can avoid it?"
"Sure!"
"How do you think it happens?"
"I think it's when people lose sight of wonder. So as long as we hang on to wonder, keep track of where ours is, we'll be fine!"
"Well, what does wonder look like?"
It's the fresh light from the early morning sun
It's how sugar tickles your tongue
It's in the flowers and how their tenderness softens your day
It's in the wind and the beautiful music it plays
It's the warmth between two friends
It's in the dreams of a full days end
....and so the two went about their day, keeping track of wonder without out judgement of good or bad. This made living their days quite a bit better!
