Back when the 'Brooklyn Trailers' looked like a proper trailer train!
Emerging from the mountains where they meet the desert, the eastbound ZBRLC is framed by the once familiar signal bridge at mile 377 just above the town of Mojave. UP 1996 (SP heritage locomotive) was also a familiar sight on the ZLCBR/ZBRLC, in fact it was captive in this pool for much of its first three years in service. Unfortunately by 2009 Brooklyn no longer went out of their way to spin the inbound ZLCBR power, as a result the 1996 would often be the trailing locomotive on the return trip to Los Angeles.
