This is Bridal Lake in Stagleap Provincial Park. This park is located at the summit of the highest all weather highway pass in BC and one of the highest paved highways in Canada.
The landscape around 33rd and Cornhusker in Lincoln will soon be changing. The elevator in the background is already in the process of demolition, and the city is holding a town hall (tonight actually) about building a bridge over the Creston Subdivision at 33rd Street.

Taken twenty mins before the previous image, a second bird was attempting to steal the catch, a " Mantling " attitude is the result.
Immediately this bird flew to the ground and lifted the meal onto this perch....
No further attacks were made by the intruder...
The red background owes itself to light bouncing off a species of willow in autumn splender....

Scientific name: Corvus frugilegus
The rook can be distinguished from the similar carrion crow by its pale bill and bare, grey bill-base, and the 'baggy trousers' of feathers around its legs.
