.... In between 4.800m !!! Only little mining left, as it could collapse !
The mine's wealth brought huge numbers of people to the inhospitable high mountain steppe around the Cerro Rico. In 1611, Potosí was one of the largest cities in the world with 150,000 inhabitants. 13,500 people mined silver underground.
Thousands of the indigenous forced laborers, many of whom were not from the high mountains, died in the mines.
Eduardo Galeano estimates that “8 million Indian corpses” were the cost of silver mining. For them, Cerro Rico was a curse and hell.
The Spanish attempt to import black slaves failed due to the low-oxygen mountain air. Most of them died before they were put to work underground.
In 1719, typhus killed 22,000 people in ten months in Potosí alone.

..... Inwischen 4.800m !!

Thanks to the seemingly inexhaustible metal reserves of the Cerro Rico, Potosi really flourished and financed the entire Spanish Empire. Magnificent churches + ornate colonial architecture were built and are today's sights.

Trebarwith Strand (Cornish: Trebervedh Sian; locally sometimes shortened to The Strand), is a coastal settlement and section of coastline located on the north coast of Cornwall, England, UK, 2 1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) south of Tintagel. It has 800m of sandy beach, contained by cliffs, in which natural caves are found.
When the tide is at its lowest the sea recedes 300 yards (270 m) and an expanse of sand in excess of 1⁄2 mile (800 m) wide is uncovered, offering excellent opportunities for walking and littoral discoveries. The rockpools at the base of the cliffs create perfect places for small fish and crabs to hide until the tide turns, and there is an abundance of small molluscs such as periwinkles, limpets and mussels clinging in clusters to the rocks. In the sea beyond low water mark is Gull Rock (or Otterham Rock).
The name Trebarwith really belongs to the village on the higher ground to the south of the valley which is the most southerly part of Tintagel parish. Land at Trebarwith is first mentioned in records of 1284 and was held from 1329 until the early 16th century by the Lercedekne family. Trebarwith Farm is a Grade II listed building. The road along the valley from Penpethy to the Strand was originally built to allow the collection of sand for agricultural purposes: there are several disused slate quarries on either side of the road. At Port William to the south of the Strand was a small harbour formerly used in the export of slate.

La Fenêtre de l’Isalo is a popular natural rock window that frames the setting sun, although we actually prefer it for the surrounding views of sweeping plains and weird-and-wonderful rock formations turned golden at sunset. At the time of writing, visitors were encouraged not to visit alone due to the threat of robbery – if there are other vehicles in attendance, take the 800m track off the RN7; the turn-off is around 1.5km south of La Relais de la Reine.

It is unmistakable how extremely damaging the sun's rays are to the skin at this altitude. (a little corrected)
Steamship SS Dicky which was washed ashore in 1893 during a cyclone with a crew of 11 and 40 tonnes of Sand. Attempts to relaunch it proved unsuccessful so it was used for local dances until someone knocked over a kerosene lamp and it was burnt out. SS Dicky is a photographic delight! The skeleton rests on a 800m long pristine beach stretch extending from low rocks at the northern end to a bluff and rock platform at the southern end.
