Megalochori in Santorini: Megalochori is one of the most traditional villages of Santorini. It lies on a hill and is characterized as a labyrinth of steep alleys and streets. Still untouched by tourism, Megalochori keeps its beautiful architecture with the picturesque square, the narrow streets, Neoclassical mansions and the typical cave houses of Santorini. It also offers a nice mix of white Cycladic houses, several blue Domed churches, bell towers, narrow alleys and uncountable vineyards which produce some of the most famous wines of Santorini.

From my garden - little sunflowers add a corner of brightness. Probably frowned on by traditionalists, but they make me smile every time I look at them!

The late afternoon light was perfect and even the sky looked good just the way I found it, sometimes an easy no nonsense post is in order.

This is a good example of what this little Northern Pygmy Owl did when a scary Chickadee flew above him. This is a change in posture called "tall and thin" and is a sign of distress. He does it to make himself look bigger or to escape detection. It was chickadees that finally drove him away. Actually, the mobbing of chickadees was how I saw my first Northern Pygmy Owl in a local park several years ago.
