Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm F/2
This is the second capture from my recent photowalk at the Olympic stadium in Berlin (for the first image please check my previous upload). It was the first (!!!) proper photowalk in this strange year (the cube berlin in July was more like a short, casual stroll, we were there for just an hour), and the Olympic stadium is ideal for a worry-free, relaxed visit, because that place is huge – well, that's what Olympic stadiums are, aren't they? –, so keeping a safety distance to the other (very few) visitors was super easy. And what was in my bag: the EM5II with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm F/2 ultrawide angle lens and the M.Zuiko 12-40 F/2.8 Pro Zoom (but I'd used the Laowa for most captures, because in a place like this it almost always can't be wide enough), and, of course, the Ricoh GRIII. The light situation inside the Olympic stadium isn't that easy, so I mostly shot in exposure bracketing mode. Something I wish I'd have figured out how to do it on the Ricoh before my visit there, but I got lovely images with the GRIII as well ;-) I will post images from this visit in a loose sequence – and don't worry, I won't bore you with Olympic stadium images only for the rest of the year, there are still enough nice captures in my archive to ensure variety, and of course I also hope to be able to take more new images this year (apart from MMs) ;-)
So this is a handheld HDR image made from three different exposures. Sharpened in Topaz Sharpen AI (mode "Sharpen"), further HDRified in Aurora HDR and finally LUTified ("Keen") in ON1 for a lighter, more colourful and somewhat breezier look, because just when I took images in that part of the Olympic stadium (at the Marathon Gate) the sun decided to hide behind the beautiful clouds we've had on that day, so the original HDR was a little on the dark side. In ON1 I've also added some detail to the Olympic cauldron – which is the original from the Olympic summer games in 1936.

This is another one from the archives not processed before taken in June 2018 with the unusual combination of Poppies and valley mist. The Poppy Field was on top of Bury Hill by the A29 overlooking the Arun Valley. On this occasion the visit was in time for Dawn at 4.48am, yawn. Kutub a friend from the Bognor Camera Club gave me a lift and we could hardly believe our luck when we saw the mist in the valley which is fairly rare this time of year. The image is an HDR, 3 images at different exposures combined in software to get the right detail in the highlights and shadows. There were 7 other photographers there for dawn including one who had come from Hastings. This shot was taken about 15 minutes before Dawn
The picture was taken with a Tripod with a Sony A68 with a with a Tamron 28-200mm lens at 75 mm. 3 images for HDR. The image was processed with Photomatix 6 using Contrast Optimiser for a natural look. Only other processing was Topaz Clarity

Gaomei was called Gaomi in the Qing Dynasty and was renamed during the Japanese era. The wetlands here are over 300 hectares, but the area is only 1/10 of Dadu River wetlands. The geography is divided into 7 categories, which results in diversified organisms in this area. Gaomei Wetlands is one of the few places that have wild ducks.
Despite the small area, Gaomei Wetlands have special soils mixed with mud and sand. Ecology here breeds diversified organisms of both plants and animals. Research shows that animals here include birds, fishes, crabs and invertebrates.

The "archive pilferage" continues. Well, can it be pilferage if it's my own photo archive? Whatever ;-) I simply don't find the time to go out and take photos at the moment. Nor to be much on Flickr. So I sincerely apologize for not answering your lovely comments, or for not responding to your photo tags (I've seen them! Thank you for commenting and / or for tagging me!!!), for my sadly omitted, rare, or only very short visits to your streams, often with faves only... I think of you, dear Flickr friends, and I hope to have more time for my favourite "waste" of time called photography and Flickr soon :-)))
I took this one at the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum, short: DHM) last year in November. The DHM consists of the historical Zeughaus building, located Unter den Linden, and the modern extension building designed by Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei which you see here. It's not allowed to take photos in the exhibition rooms or of the exhibitions themselves, but you can take photos of the buildings' interiors which offer plenty of interesting photo scenes.

Die Plünderung meines Archivs geht weiter. Obwohl, selbst ausplündern kann ich mich wohl schlecht... aber egal ;-) Ich habe momentan einfach kaum Zeit für's Fotografieren, kaum mehr für Flickr, ich hoffe aber, dass sich das bald bessert und ich mich wieder ausgiebiger meiner liebsten "Zeitverschwendung" namens Fotografie und Flickr - und damit auch Euch - widmen kann.
Dies ist eine Aufnahme aus dem modernen Teil des Deutschen Historischen Museums vom vergangenen November. Zwar ist das Fotografieren der Ausstellungen selbst nicht gestattet, aber sowohl das historische Zeughaus als auch der von I. M. Pei entworfene Erweiterungsbau bieten viele lohnende Fotomotive, sodass sich ein Besuch schon allein deshalb lohnt.
Ich wünsche Euch eine schöne Restwoche, liebe Flickr-Freunde, denkt immer schön ans Händewaschen und bleibt gesund!
This, too, is from the archives, from September of 2017. This, of course, is from my favorite rose garden, Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington. The inner layers are a little bright, but I think the outer layers are just gorgeous, like peaches and cream! Hope you all enjoy!

Blue-and-gold macaws typically weigh about 2-2.7 pounds and are 30-34 inches long, more than half of which is the tail.
Their faces are relatively bare, white in color with sparse black feathers, and a large black beak strong enough to break open nutshells.
They have zygodactylous feet, with two toes facing forwards and two facing backwards. Each toe has a long, sharp claw at the tip. They have vibrant blue feathers
on the dorsal side of their wings and tail, with yellow on the undersides of each. They also have a patch of dark blue or black under the facial patch and a green forehead.
Macaws are particularly curious, intelligent, and social birds. They require constant stimulation, whether entertaining themselves or in the company of other birds. They
form strong bonds with their mate and flock; when these bonds are broken they exhibit signs of stress, including chewing or plucking out their own feathers.In the
wild, they live in large families or colonies called flocks. To communicate, they make very loud vocalizations, which can be heard echoing in the forests.

Another look at the archives!
This was taken back in 2014, the very 1st year we went to Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, located in Mount Vernon, Washington. We had actually moved to Washington in 2013 (but that was in August), so we first started going in April of 2014. What a joy!
This, of course, is Tulip Town. The reason I can tell is, Tulip Town is mostly fields with the barns as a backdrop. Roozengaarde is mostly gardens. They both have gardens, they both have fields; they each are prominent in one. I actually enjoy them both. I love the gardens of Roozengaarde, but I love Tulip Town for its fields, especially with all the picturesque barns as a backdrop!

Another one from the archives, this time from a trip to London in December. It occurs to me that it could be quite a while before I visit London again what with crowded carriages for trains up to London and especially with crowded Underground train carriages. I do have though a lot of unprocessed images in the archives.
This shot was taken in Switch House the new extension to Tate Modern Art Gallery in London. This is one of two spiral staircases in the building with this one being the smaller one going up just one floor. I was especially taken with this viewpoint and the colours on the right.
The shot was taken with a Sony A68 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10 mm. 3 images for HDR. The image was processed with Photomatix 6. Topaz Clarity was used to add detail. Adjustment layers were added to adjust saturation and contrast.
This picture just got into Explore on the 13 June making it the 5th this year with the one before that being 7 years ago. The only difference was not putting in many Groups

Another from the way back early digital days archives.
A pair of classic RDCs (#s 701 & 712) on the Hurricane Turn pause on the train's namesake bridge to allow passengers to get off and walk around. More than a decade ago things were much more casual on the Alaska Railroad than they are now.
701 is an RDC-3 built for the New Haven Railroad in 1953 as their number 126
712 is an RDC-3 built for the New York Central in 1953 as their number M380.
This would be the last season for the classic "Budd Cans" as the railroad's crews called them as time and the increasing popularity of this train finally caught up to them.
