13 March. Tree 607 stands on the western side of Blackheath Avenue near the Physical Observatory. it is classified as a semi-mature Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse chestnut) in B2 (Moderate Quality) condition. The photo shows that a largish branch has recently been removed. This tree is not scheduled to be pruned. Its neighbour, Tree 606 (to its left in the photo), is scheduled for pruning. The instruction in the pruning schedule [1] says: "Prune to 4m around circumference for spectator concessions, WCs, medical area and catering store". The same instruction is to be applied to a series of trees (603, 605, 606, 610, 612, 614-626) on the western side of the Blackheath Avenue near the Observatory buildings.
