Der Bachsee (auch Bachalpsee), in dem sich bei schönem Wetter Schreckhorn, Finsteraarhorn und Fiescherhörner spiegeln, ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Die Becken des kleinen Stausees dienen eigentlich als Reservoir zur Stromerzeugung für das Wasserkraftwerk Isch, welches in der Nähe des Dorfes Grindelwald liegt. Das Kraftwerk produziert jährlich rund sechs Millionen Kilowattstunden Strom, was ca, 13.5 Prozent des in Grindelwald benötigten Stroms entspricht.
