Uno de los trabajos que más me agrado de la exposición "El Grabado Peruano Actual (Más allá de Lima) que fue realizado del 25 de octubre al 27 de noviembre de 2016" en la Galería Municipal de Arte Pancho Fierro, fue el trabajo (sin titulo) creado por la talentosa puneña Diana Cruz Ccapa.

The plan was to use them to catch data we were pulling off of the Amazon S3 storage cloud via an insane internet connection (25 megabytes/second sustained via http requests to amazon S3).
This is before we realized how badly they perform. We could not write to the CIFS shares over gigabit ethernet at anything higher than 6MB/second.
When your internet connection is faster than your local-LAN storage you know you have a problem.
This could be the RAID Thunderbolt solution I have been looking for. Introduced during the CES 2013 earlier this year, the LaCie 5big comes with five hot swappable 7200rpm/64MB cache hard disks which are preconfigured as a RAID 0 array, but can optionally be configured as RAID 1 or JBOD configuration (aka RAID 5).
It has dual 10 Gb/s Thunderbolt ports for easy daisy chaining with up to 6 additional drives. The aluminium enclosure features a Noctua® magnetic levitation cooling fan, promising high-performance yet quiet operations with zero-vibration. Acoustics is rated at 25-28dBA.
Average transfer rate at 785MB/s read and 695MB/s write means that it can handle multiple 2K uncompressed 10-bit streams, a dream come true for the media production workflow.
Two models are available. The MSRP for the 10TB is US$1,199 and the 20TB goes for US$2,199. Reasonably affordable especially she compared to the Pegasus.
I am waiting for reviews to come in right now before making the purchase to make sure the build is good, but it is definitely now on my to-buy list if they perform as well as the specs say.

We have a cool one-off project to move about 30 terabytes of data out of the Amazon S3 storage cloud and onto physical disks.
We used this cabinet - it is one router hop off of the main Boston fiber ring and is provisioned for burst speeds up to 1GB/second!
We rate limited the circuit to 250 mbit/sec which lets us pull data from the storage cloud at roughly 25 megabytes per second.
The four glowing units shown in the background represent a few thousand dollars and ~20 terabytes of absolute suck.
These are "LaCie 5big 7.5TB Network" NAS devices. Probably only suitable for home usage and lightweight business use cases.
Configured with RAID5 and CIFS shares via a gigabit ethernet NIC we could not write data to them faster than ~8MB/second sustained. They don't speak NFS at all.
The $99 black toaster devices in the foreground each hold a pair of 2 terabyte WD SATA disks. We are storing data on them until we can test out the eSATA version of the LaCie units. These units seem to sustain 20MB/second via USB2 and over 60MB/second when we use the eSATA links.
Very slick solution for highly portable and cheap bulk storage. The $99 toaster accepts a pair of naked SATA disks and exposes them via either a shared USB2.0 port or individual eSATA ports.
Copying data off of a Linux server we were able to sustain copy speeds of 60+ megabytes per second without any optimization efforts. Very nice.
