Vandaag (18-6-2022) reed de Arbeitsgemeinschaft Westfalendampf een sonderzug vanuit Menden (Sauerland) tot Munster met een V200 van de Hammer Eisenbahnfreunde e. V. en vanaf Munster naar Norderney met de 01 519 van Eisenbahnfreunde Zollernbahn.
Bij Bernte/Emsbüren werd de stoomtrein opgewacht en vastgelegd.

After waiting for a CN grain barge to crawl it's way west through Sapperton, Amtrak's Cascades train no.519 for Seattle finally got the light to proceed east behind 'cabbage' 90340. It is seen here passing under venerable Great Northern era searchlights near BNSF's car department building under moody skies. I'm glad to have crossed some old NP searchlights off my to-do list.

Der 13.08.2022 bleibt mir bis heute als DER 9-Euro-Ticket Tag in Erinnerung..
Es war Hansesail in Rostock und so fuhr nicht nur ein AKE Sonderzug dorthin, sondern auch immens viele Menschen. So war die Hinfahrt morgens nach Schwanheide noch entspannt, aber die Rückfahrt, die ich um 10 Uhr antreten wollte, verlief katastrophal.
Der RE nach Hamburg war so voll, dass ich in Schwanheide bleiben musste und erst 2h später in einem ebenfalls sehr vollen RE meine etwa 5 minütige Fahrt nach Büchen antreten konnte.. Aber das reicht natürlich nicht, denn der Lint nach Lüneburg hatte natürlich auch keinen Platz mehr, sodass ich auch in Büchen noch eine weitere Stunde verbringen durfte.
So schön das 9-Euro-Ticket auch war, die Mitnahme in den Zügen war in diesen drei Monaten keinesfalls garantiert und angenehmes Reisen sah anders aus.
Aber der Ausflug hatte sich trotzdessen gelohnt, denn es kam nicht nur der hier zusehende AKE mit der 182 519 als DZ 320 von Köln nach Warnemünde, sondern auch die 103 222 von Radve und die damals noch neue 383 220 von Budamar.

A rather goofy mixed lashup, consisting of METX 519 and 413 pulling the 2617 out of North Glenview. At least the locomotive I wanted to see was leading but would've been extra cool if they were both SD70MACHs if it had to be a double header.

Amtrak Dash 8 #519 takes the lead of the Cardinal once again, this time leading the front of the Beech Grove Segment of 51 at Lafayette Junciton in Lafayette, Indiana. It was a neat opportunity to capture them in one of the first snowfalls of the year, and a very productive week on the Monon Sub for Dash 8s! (2/13/25).

Amtrak’s Cardinal #51 glides into downtown Lafayette with one of the craziest lashups this train has ever seen. Leading are two P32-8BWH “Dash 8s” #519 and #512 on the head end, and a F40PH Carbody NPCU #90222 third out. This consist feels like total jump back in time to the 90s where Dash 8/F40 lashups were a common sight as new GE technology was being tested throughout the Amtrak system. This is probably my top catch in my 3.5 year stint in Indiana so far, and without a doubt something that will probably never occur again on Amtrak (9/12/24).

Offenbar wegen einer kleinen Reparatur war 01 519 über Pfingsten auf dem Gelände der TWE-Werkstatt in Lengerich abgestellt. Die Treibstange auf der Lokführerseite war demontiert.
