The working title came from a study shot I took early in the week when all I could find in the house was the crappiest, low quality ball of string you had the misfortune to own.
The original composition I liked but was a little convoluted, I tried reshooting but couldn’t get it to work even after buying the upgraded red twine you see in this shot. So, I stripped the composition back opting to tuck the coin (a 50 Centime coin, where that came from I have no idea, the last time I visited France was as a student around 1992) through a couple of threads on the spool.
Anyway, total cost of photo £1!

HMM... the theme for today, 3/8, is motion blur. at first i tried swinging a small cat keychain ornament and photographing it with my iphone-- FAIL.
so i moved back to my dear little canon 870 p&s and focused really up close to the fiber optic lights on my tree (with each shot i chose a cluster that was smaller than a quarter or at least a 50cent piece). that didn't go terribly well *until* i figured that the fireworks setting might slow down the lens..... i shot at least 60 of which i had to get rid of at least a third because they were overblown. this one appeals to me because it is so colorful, so i am choosing it for the posting. to achieve the motion here, i moved the camera from side to side..
.....AND i am 560 views away from hitting 9million views. i'm pretty sure the MM group participants will get me there and over :)

Weilimdorf (bis 1955 Weil im Dorf) ist ein Stadtbezirk im Nordwesten von Stuttgart.
Er grenzt an die Stuttgarter Stadtbezirke Zuffenhausen, Feuerbach und Stuttgart-West sowie die Städte Gerlingen, Ditzingen und Korntal-Münchingen (alle drei Landkreis Ludwigsburg).
50 Cent je Blüte
Schon zur Hallstattzeit war die Weilimdorfer Gemarkung besiedelt. Hierbei handelte es sich vermutlich um Kelten, die Ackerbau und Viehzucht betrieben. Auf dem Horn bei Weilimdorf gab es eine keltische Fliehburg und im Stellenrain hoch über dem Lindental finden sich heute noch deutliche Zeichen eines Ringwalles. Die Kelten wurden aber noch vor Christi Geburt von den Sueben verdrängt. Anschließend besetzten Römer das verlassene Land und teilten es der Provinz Obergermanien zu. Spuren finden sich noch an der Steinstraße am östlichen Markungsrand, die einst eine Römerstraße war und im Jahre 1910 grub man eine römische Mauer im Gewann Blauäcker aus. Diese könnte von einem römischen Gutshof stammen und von jenem Gutshof ließe sich auch der Name Weilimdorfs ableiten: Weil = Villa = Landhaus.

5 side of a regulation casino die on top of the reverse side of a Kennedy 50-cent (half-dollar) coin.
The coin was placed on top of a small cylinder to lift it away from the black background fabric and the die was lit by a small but very bright Surefire flashlight.
The die is .75"/20mm on a side and the coin is 1.2"/30mm across.
50 cent of Lithuanian coin, - back from 1999 when Lithuania had own currency... And flowers on top of it chopped off by knight and his horse.
